Dart165 is on the right track for sure. Spray it in British racing green and your set.

i like the car.. i would go with the bugati look.. i like the open hood with the leather hold down straps so we can see the engine. the hood with out the sides brings that unusual roof into perspective. with out a hood the roof looks odd. def needs lots of cool wood inside the ride.. dash, wheel, door trim.. wheels.. wire would look good but maybe some baby moons too? i dig the car, and the original builder had some skill and a vision. which i really doubt this guy sat down and design the look on paper.. probably went the wrecking yard grabs some cheap parts and had a vision of a sports car of the period being built and went for it ( maybe taht means he had no vission and just tried to make what he had look cool which i think he did a good job of ). teh engine is killing it for me.. it just seems so out of place.. and i like 350s.. heh.. and im not one for certain engines have to be in certain things cause of this or that.. but in this case that 350 just looks like its homeless. the van wheels.. haha, they are becoming popular i looked on ebay.. sell them van wheels while the trend is hot. LOL

color, hmmm. im thinking a dark blue color.

no matter what you do. just glad a car guy got it.

now the question is how the hell did he get it registered as the car he did? maybe the body? or he just had that title on hand and went to dmv and said make it work. lol.. i doubt that would fly now adays.. i have a old vw dune buggy built in the 50s.. i had to get that thing title as a experimental or whatever it is they do for kit cars.. sorta sucked since it was a 50s build.. but we do what we have to be street legal i guess.

Ha Ha Ha everyone is Ragging on the "VAN" rims , ... THINK late 70's early 80's camaro , The general Lee , tons of cars Had these Turbine Wheels , But we call then "Van" wheels , But I agree I hate them too and dang sure not on this car , as far as the motor in the car I pulled it out the first day I owned it , But I have a chromed out with blower late 70's Chevy 350 to in it if I choose to go that direction Aprox 713 hp. , Color I was thinkin' yellow like Milner's Coupe in American Graffiti with a BADAZZ motor sticking up , but thats just an Idea , I'm not old enough to Remember the 50's hot rods nor the 60's for that matter , But I always got into the Gasser war cars , but since this one would never look right gassered up , I'm leaning more towards Milner's Coupe style , altho I have considered a nice Dark blue color , anyways please don't hate me for my vision on this car , as I have not made any desision yet ,

Oh and as far as How is it registered , well it's titled as a 1932 Plymouth Custom Coupe , and even has the short serial number stamped on the door frame and has been registered and titled and tagged that way since atleast 1942 or perhaps it was 1948 I'd have to go look at the run down on it ,

It sorta looks like an SS Jag to me. I suggest a set of wires and a stovebolt with a t5. The lines just don't seem to fit the highboy roadster style.

Very nice redesign! Like the ideas of the new wheels/offset, hood, smoothed deck lid and roadsterized top. Just have to be carefull not to evolve it into a BOYDSTER!

At first I wasnt so sure, but the more I look at the car, the more I really like it.
Having seen the photo shopped Hemi, Id like to see a dressed up early Caddy or Olds lower in the chassis.
While I like the wires and some of the mods in Dart165's amazing restyling, Id lean towards leaving more of the original hiccups alone. This way it would preserve the early build, rather than making it into something smooth like a Minnotti body or something Coddington might have built.
Just my ideas...Id hate to see something survive a 1980s rebuild, just to lose the rest of its identity.
    Neat car!

yeah the pictures that were taken of it are not in my yard but the yard of the guy I got it from , I seen the body tools to, I was the same way when I first seen it I hated it ,it looked fiberglass and kit Car-ish to me ,,, then it kinda grew on me , I was looking more for a 32 ford coupe project or a T bucket , or a Model A sedan chopped and channeled , but was not able to come up with one Local , then I kept thinking about this one , it is a one of a Kind , it is very well Put together , and setup with a 4 link front and rear brand new rear end , rear air shocks , front disk brakes , new 6 guage dash panel with guages , new Grant GT steering wheel new locar Shifter , and Just tons of MOJO , the body is all smoothed and or joined to the frame from the channel job so I did pull the motor and trans and it sits 3 foot from my Recliner in my garage and I sit and stare at it everynight trying to figure out where to start and what I want to do ,,,.

Its a crap shoot with the rims, the car looks like an early '50s (Check out the Hawaiian hot rods thread on here)custom so wheels from the '50s or '60s would look good. Modern stuff would look cheesy in my opinion.
As for the Caddy, that thing is a brute both in power and weight. The weight might be too much for the frame. Regarding the looks, it'd be kinda like a tuner at the HAMB drags. An early '50s Caddy, Nailhead or hemi might support the original theme of the car better.
In the end though, its your car ,do what you will. You'll get a few more opinions I'm sure, maybe not what you expected. Keep us posted in any event, I'd like to see what happens to the car. Eli

I have to agree. I say build it back with the same concept that the original builder had or sell it to someone who will. No need to hack up what can be a really nifty car to make another giant Hotwheels car out of it.
The car needs at least the top of the hood on it and 50's style wheels. And tires that tuck in under the fenders.
It doesn't need a mega engine with brute horsepower but it does need and engine that is done up to reflect the mid/late fifties when the car was built.
Maybe just late 50's Corvette or Offy cast valve covers and some chrome trim to match.

Look up photos of late 30's European sports cars and you will soon figure out where the original design originated in the builders head.

You can bet that photos of cars similar to these two were tacked up on the wall when the car was built.

  25. My 2 cents....Some kind of OHV or Twin Cam straight 6 or 8 with multi carbs and individual exhaust. Wire wheels, and a hood top to complete the lines and show off the mill.

X2 on the straight 6 or 8. Get some better wheels on it and paint it like an English racing green. Maybe black fenders. The only thing I would be tempted to do something with is the arch on that roof -but I would hold off.

I'm leaning more towards Mild hot rod nothing over the top just a tastefully done modern SBC motor , not really wanting to tuck the rear tires in , not gonna change the body lines
