Sorry to hear 'bout your circumstance, prayers & positive thoughts headed your way! I guess the only advice that makes any sense regardless of our health, is to live each day like it's the last one we'll get! As none of us have any guarantees regarding a "tomorrow", all we can do is wring as many goodies outa today as possible! Remember, "This moment is a gift, ...that's why it's called THE PRESENT.". Stiff upper lip lad, upward & onward, eh wot?!

I can relate. I got the same message about a 1 1/2 years ago. They put a capsule in my arm that messes with your hormones. It gave me hot flashes and no sex, but it shrunk the prostrate. After about 6 months the PSA was down from 9.5 to 0.1. They started radiation 5 days a week for 44 treatments. Only had some small side effects during the last 4-5 days. My PSA is still at 0.1. The capsule in the arm is good for 1 year. They took the first one out and put in the second one. They say they will put in another one when this one has been in a year. So far so good. I have my fingers crossed. I do have 3 close friends that have had the same and they are OK now for 4-5 years.
    Good luck to you!!

7-10 Years without treatment? That's nothing to get down over. That means with treatment you can have a whole lifetime ahead of ya.

Watch your diet, do the treatments, kick its' ass and keep busy and active.

I work in the medical field and see survivors every day and you can be one too. Keep your head up and your will as strong as possible. Today is the 37th anniversary I have been in my field and I've seen amazing things in that time. Prayers have been sent!

Well the Doc has got me going in for a bone scan...He says it is an 81% chance that this is all contained in my prostate...He has some concerns about some pollops that where close to the surface...So that all goes down in a couple of weeks..I have to tell you that 19% chance that it is in my bones worries me...My Dad got it in his bones and that is what he died from...So for now it is a sit and sweat game...Thanks for your support Guys and Gals...I sure hope I don't need to start a Bucket List..But we shall see..Thanks, Scot

Scott, PLEASE keep exploring options. Some guys who have been through similar cancers have offered some other ways to go, it is so important you research all of them. I have heard good things about the Cancer Centers of America, you might want to give them a call. I know money is always a factor, but perhaps you have health insurance that will take some of the bite out of any bills incurred. Get the help and worrry about the money owed later.

We keep looking for your updates, hoping the very next one is great news. :)

Good luck to you.Stay positive it is treatable. I know more people who are cancer survivors than those who have died from it. It is no longer the same outcome that it was twenty or thirty years ago. You are in our prayers.

Keep your chin up. I was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in June of 07. After surgory with a long recovery time, 28 treatments of radiation and 4 1/2 months of chemo I am now cancer free to this point. All was going well with getting my parts bussinness (second source of income) off the ground and had just bought my 29 delivery sedan. I nearly lost it all paying for what the insurance did not cover. I barely got all of that payed off when the company I was working for announced they were closing the doors in the plant I worked in. Now I am unemployed. Life seems to be a real struggle at times, hoping it gets better soon. I will be praying for you diligently as I do know what you are gong through, both physicly and psycologicly.

Scott keeping searching for that brass ring my friend. My family have been through a lot with this devistating disease. I am to the point any more I just hate the word it seems like every one you know any more either has it or a relitive. I lost my Dad and best friend to it 8 yrs ago on the 4th and he gave it a good fight they told us when they found it he had 2 to 3 weeks we contacted sloan kettering. He made it 9 mos. It all in your willingness to fight. I have 2 buddies going through this right now and the advancements they have made since Dad had his is amazing, dont be afraid to get a second and even a 3rd opinion, we here will keep you in our prayers, I wished you lived closer here to me I would give you a hand at getting that truck finished take care ......

Your attitude is great. I have been cancer free for 12 years now. I was 27 when I was diagnosed. Was told I was probably going to die and make the best of it. Refused to listen to that surgeon so my wife and I hoped in our car with x-rays, ct films and any other lab reports and drove 6 hours to the Mayo in Rochester MN. No appointment or anything. After waiting 8 hours on a Friday afternoon I got in. Dr. looks at the reports and films and asked about any other blood tests. Still waiting for one or two we told him. He says, I think I know what you have and you will be fine, I just need that other test. Go home, come back Monday for an ultrasound and we will do some blood work. Unbelievable. He was right, had surgery a few days later and then started the road to chemo. You want to talk about hell, that was it. They brought me to point of death with that stuff but that is what was necessary to do. I did it though. I had to fight. I had a wife and was too young to die. When I couldn't fight it anymore I gave everything over to God and said I am in your hands, I can't do this anymore. Well, I am alive and going strong. I have a beautiful little girl now and if I had given up, I would have missed it all. Yes, life is short but fight for it. There are those that love you and care for you. That is evident here on the HAMB. We don't even know you and the words spoken here are just amazing and uplifting. Don't give up, get a 2nd opinion if necessary. You wouldn't believe that a number of DRs just don't know enough about this these kind of things. Now, we are going through some of this same stuff with my wife. There are some inconclusive results that may result in another surgery in a few weeks. Prognosis is great but we still have to go through this. God wouldn't be doing this if it wasn't for a good reason. Once again, we are faced with the challenge possibly. Now, we fight for our family, we have to. Your spirit is amazing, keep your chin up and don't ever look back, ever. Look ahead to the future and imagine the possibilities. We are all standing by your side even if we aren't there. Remember, God is good! You are in my prayers.

"Stewed"s Dad, "Weekender", was only given a year to live, but he managed to get another 14 or 15 years of quality life in before he passed. Keep a positive attitude, and stay active. I think staying active helped Uncle Tommy (Weekender) as much, or more than the treatments.

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, normally i would just zip by threads like this but mainly because the "C" word has taken so many and left so many scarered ones behind to remember.
my wife was diagnosed not once but twice with breast cancer about 1.5 yrs apart from one to the next "episode" all shortly after giving birth to out twin babies. this was about 5 yrs ago, later on my father was diagnosed with bladder cancer and not too many months later i lost a good friend to colon cancer aftfer it completely devoured her.
hang in there, keep a positive attitude (it helps) and live your life like you like...
we'll be fighting the good fight in the background. like someone said fuck cancer right in the ear! pull through and keep your chin up, we're here for ya regardless of distance, life style, 2 doors or four doors... ;) you can do it.

My prayers for you as well. Lots of good words and support here. Feel what you feel, denial does no one any good. A positive spirit is proving the difference over and over for so many people, though.

Just found this thread. I am speechless and tearful at the same time. I see so much goodness in this post it is overwhelming. I personally think every one of you guys who have had this stuff and survived are AWESOME! Your stories are so uplifting that it makes guys like me that much more appreciative of how good life has been so far and to cherish every second we have on this Earth. I have been ever cautious about myself since it runs in my family more than i like. I have seen family members fight and overcome this and it is amazing to see.

48flthdf1................My Brother, I will keep you in my prayers. Remember, when all else fails, we ALWAYS have GOD to turn to and HE never fails. HE is the only one who can bring us thru these difficult times. I would encourage you to spend some time in HIS word, it will lift you up and keep your spirits high. I believe the answers to every one of life's problem can be found the Bible.
