1954 210 it has a 350 swap in it but now the steering is hitting the exhaust when turning the wheel to the left. ive seen on here that is a problem a lot and that someone even makes headers/manifolds for this problem but i have yet to find them. other option i may do is change all the steering but im not sure what all to use and id like to still keep the original steering wheel if i could if i need to change the column. any suggestions on what to use or links to threads i may have overlooked would be great.
Sanderson makes headers for it.. Makes getting to the plugs a little tough though.. I've been running mine for around 5 years now..
i think i looked on the sanderson website but i didnt see them maybe i just over looked them ill have to check that again... ill also check the truck ones out.... the manifold i have now drops down almost to the very back i may have to look into getting that part of the exhaust redone
The Chev pickup manifold looks similar to this one. This one is a bit earler though. I had this on on my 71 GMC before I put headers on it.
I had the same problem, took it back to exhaust shop and they had to rework some of the bends to get around the steering and not block access to my oil filter
What manifolds are on it now? There are a lot of options you can run - either of the two later model Chevy truck manifold sets work, the one used on pickups to '87 (Suburban to '91 and some vans to '94) where the left dumps between the middle and rear ports, and the 88-up pickup set (which also began to turn up on vans) which both dump at the very rear; mid-1990s Caprice/Roadmaster with the arched top used on LT1 motors, and I forget the rest.
im not sure what ones are on it now i know the motor is from a 75 chevy truck so they may be the factory ones from that engine but it does dump in the very back but still just isnt far enough... im thinking i may have to get the exhaust changed up a little im just not sure how far the steering moves to see if it can be reworked or if ill have to change the manifolds
