I bought this truck a few years back and it's been sitting in my buddy's pasture. Never had the time to dig into it til today. This thing looks to me like it was somebody's hopped up grocery getter/shop truck. It's got what I think is an olds 324 (block number 567405) with a stock hydra-matic. I think the rear end and steering might have come from the same donor car. Rear end was grenaded and it looks like that's why it was parked. The doors have a sign that I can't make all of it out... Looks like something at the top, then "Vanover Eng." in the center, and then Racing Producucts at the bottom. If anyone knows anything about the truck, I'd like to hear it. I bought it in Colton, CA (inland Empire area) a few years back. Seems to have been last registered to a man in San Fernando, CA in the early 70's but I don't think he was the owner that did the hotrod mods. Any opinions on the original olds hydra-matic? I've driven the truck hydra-matic of the time... Bullet proof, but not anything I'd ever want in a hotrod...
Thanks guys! It'll be a fun truck to put back together. Would be nice to known a little more about it if it's possible. I really wonder who Vanover Engineering Racing Products was...
They built forged rocker arms back in the 60s 8217-9 Lankershim blvd No. Hollywood ca. Tony Nancy and Dougs headers was in there add 1965 HRM.
Really? That's awesome. Do you have an old ad for them or were you around back then and remember the place? I wonder if the family is still around? Would be awesome to find some pics of the truck before the goon squad got a hold of it... Thanks for the info!
Just confirmed it has #10 heads on it... I'm really itching to see if this thing will run. Slight issue... It's missing the starter! Gonna have to figure out what will work!
