Quite a milestone: Body is on for the last time: Sorry for the lousy picture, it was getting dark. A pretty happy Doug:
Damn, you Seattle guys must drink alot of coffee to work that fast.Us Denver boys move much slower(lack of oxygen).Make sure you put a cotter pin in that tie-rod.Those 5 windows can kill ya. Cheers!
That car is beautiful. Very nice job! I love coming here.. most of you people have good taste. Like me.
Hey, that's not me. I'm bigger, younger, stronger, and a hell of a lot better looking, more germ like than that. Who the hell is that old fart anyway and what's he doing next to my car? Get out a here!!!!
Nice... no, make that PERFECT! I know what you mean Dug... the pic in Hot Rod of us put me right in the crack... makes my gut look big and my head look bald! Sam.
Thought I'd post an update. After a week long thrash to finish up the headlights and tail light wiring, splash on a thin coat of flattened laquer, and some other misc. stuff it was ready for a trip around the block. I came back laughing my ass off. That was Saturday night. Sunday was spend tweaking some stuff and a few shake down trips. It's not all good yet but it's getting there. I have some kind of a clutch issue, weird one, I have to shake out but it's on the road. Hoping to make it to Goodguys in a couple weeks.
just dug... NICE car. congrats on hittin the pavement man. some shakedowns are diamonds, and well... some are more like industrial diamonds,,, still a diamond, but rough around the edges. dont sweat the petty shit, and dont pet the sweaty shit again, congrats on a sweet ass build
Love it, love it, love it! What a perfect traditional look. Shoot those pics with a sepia tone (and drop out the background) and it could be 1948-55. Nice work. P.S. reminds me of Big Daddy Roth's early wheels.
Excellent! I always look forward to seeing what you PNW guys are up to. Keep the pics coming...I too am interested in seeing the laquer job. Neal
Thanks Neal. I don't have any new pictures but the frame and tank are the same paint I used on the body. There was no filler on the body just DP-90 on some of it. The rest, all the patch panels, door bottoms and the quarter panel and deck lid weren't prepped just shot with the flattened laquer and it looks like shit. No consistent shean. I did prep the grill shell, frame and tank though and they turned out great. I mixed about 3/4s of a quart of flattener to a gallon of laquer.
Very nice Doug. Glad you got it on the road. I can just see you laughing. You must be stoked. I've got to get a ride in it soon.
Thanks Keith, I need you guys to all come over Friday night and help me figure out the clutch thing. Most bazaar issue I've had to deal with. Please help. Most weird sound I've ever heard but intermittent. If something's wrong with the clutch wouldn't it be continueous. I'm thinking I overstressed the springs before I mounted the firewall. Who the hell knows. I thought this whole car building was supposed to be easy. Now I'm finding out it's not that easy and wondering why I ever started. I should have taken up topiary instead. You know, no moving parts.......Hey Eric, where the hell you been. You were supposed to help and you don't ever answer the phone. I tried to call you today at your work and no answer. What the hell kinda business is that. Sure, move to Denver and turn into an ASSHOLE. We sure miss you though......
Very cool, Doug. I really dig the wheel/tire combo. Way to carry the flag for the NW gang! I'll look for ya at GG in a couple weeks
