good luck I imagine they are hard to find. You should do an introduction before just running up in here with 2 post asking for parts. But since you asked.....I would try the pilothouse club. Lots of good info there.

Grab a Hemmings Motor News magazine and sit down and go thru it. you'll find what you need.

I wasn't aware that a formal introduction was in order and didnt know where to post such a thing...Ya they are difficult to find but i'm sure one will turn up somewhere. I have been looking through Hemmings and no luck yet but i'm going to keep looking for sure. I'll try and see what's available in the Pilot House Forum.
    Thanks for your help guys,

in a pinch, a bed from any short stepside Dodge '48-'85 will fit. The '48-'52 will have the circular fenders that will match the lines of the front fenders; the '53-'85 will have the styled fenders.

I have a stepside longbed off a 60... they use the same fenders back to 53... the 1952 has the small tub style fenders that look like trailer fenders... the eariler beds are more difficult to find for sure... but they used the same side post design and short side and tailgate from late 30s to late 50s... difference was on the early ones was the fender holes thats it... so you can search for a later 50s bed and be fine... or look back through the 40s all day long.. Just know these c and b series real well.

You can buy the entire bed, as well as the fenders, wood, etc, here

But if that's too pricey for you, 52RAM is right on. All "high side" Dodge step side beds from 1948 to 1985 are basically the same. Tailgate design changed, as well as some of the mounting locations because of frame widths, but the dimensions of the bed itself never did. Fenders changed to the larger style in '53, but that's only a concern if you're looking to be "correct", the later ones will fit the earlier trucks just fine. And I think they look better anyway, although some will disagree I'm sure.

There was a "low side" bed that was only available from '48-'53, but other than the height of the bed sides the overall dimensions are the same, so they interchange with the standard "high side" beds. The bed on my truck (in my avatar) is a low side bed.

At any rate, since they were made until '85, you may be able to find one in a local wrecking yard. The link Buds56 gave is also a great source for all things Pilothouse, lots of very knowledgable people over there.
