I don't mean to be captain obvious, but take the time to read through the archives. I'm not coming from the usual "do a search you stupid rookie!" I'm coming from the perspective of learning some of the history and great threads that are here. I talk a lot, so I'm a "member" but I'm VERY much a newbie at heart and skill. So, I'm am practicing what I preach and doing it too. I've been going back through the old threads and just reading my way through them. Just click on "last post" and it'll sort them by date. I started at the beginning and just started going through them. WOW, there has been some good stuff on here and I feel like I know most here much better, now. So, take some time and check it out. You'll be glad you did! Flathead Youngin' Newbie
You are right as rain my friend. Now on the other hand sometimes it takes me hours to find just the right thread. But I always find other stuff that is just too good to p*** up. So I usually get impatient and ask anyway.
I do the same thing! It's like a vast ocean of information......it's just finding it..... With this thread, however, I was intending on people learning about the HAMB and it's members- it's history. It's really interesting, it puts some of the newer threads in context.
I do that alot...surf the 'Members' index and read profiles and threads started by various HAMBers. The ones that have been here a few years I know pretty well, but it's still cool to re-visit some of their older posts and read their updated profiles. When I run across a user name I don't recognize, I'll look up their profiles and read a few of their posts to get an angle on them and where they're coming from. When I first joined, it was easy to know the 'regulars' pretty well...but this place has grown by LOTS since then...new faces come and go daily! Hard to keep up and stay in touch with who's who...but it's cool that our little family continues to grow. The Real Deal HAMBers will remain long after the casual visitors or wayward posers get bored and leave...just good sometimes to reaquaint yourself with your HAMB Bruthas and Sistahs!!
I'm a true newbie to hot rodding. I don't hardly know **** and I almost never post even though I've been a Hamb voyer for almost a year. I read peoples posts and profiles(lot of interesting people out there). But come on there is nothing better for you vets and wanna be vets than ripping on dumb*** rookie questions and statements. I'd like to see more stupid rookie question so that I don't have to be the one asking them. It should make you pros feel good that we want your knowledge. If it weren't for Johnnylonghair takin me on as his ***** I'd be lost. Thanks to my friends I don't have to post my rookie questions. Just Remember: There's no such thing as stupid questions...Just Stupid People!
This should be the universal newbie code of conduct. That being said...I better get back to rumaging threw the miles and miles of old posts!!!
Damn Hack Now I gotta go update my profile. New projects and old ones gone. I've had almost a complete turnover in the last month.
