    Hey everybody!

Just want to say I'm really glad to have found this forum. I love traditional rods and my goal is to build one. Well ok, I want to build more than one. How could you stop with one car?
My Grandad was a Ford mechanic from the 1950's to the 1990's. He's still around and lives in So. IL.
My dad did body and fender in Ford dealerships for 30 years. I chose my user name from a car my dad had when I was a kid that I just fell in love with. It was a white '62 T-bird with red leather seats. It was a beautiful machine. That being said, I'm not closed-minded about other cars. Nearly any old car is my friend.
I'm currently driving a truck for a living after 15 years in the construction industry. Since that industry went to hell in a bucket, I'm trying something new this year.
Anyway, cars are just in my blood. I can't help it. I'm here because I just have to build myself a car before I am through. My plan is to start small with something I can accomplish. I'm thinking a '49-51 Ford pickup. I'm a decent mechanic and did repairs on my own cars and trucks over the years. I do ok bodywork. I learned some basics from my dad. I want to learn how to weld. I have opportunity to split the rent on the 2 car garage behind our apartment building with a neighbor who is also a Ford man. I have a good collection of hand tools and a small air compressor that would run an impact at least.
From there I guess it's just finding the right car or truck to start with that's within my ability. I'm sure I will need more tools as I go along.
To sum it all up, what I love about hot rodding is seeing a car that some guy (or gal) built in their own garage with their own hands, tools, and a little help from their friends.
I look forward to reading about all the different projects that folks here have going. I hope I learn a lot, since I know I have a lot to learn!
