Anyone shed some light on installing a Mustg II or Pinto floor mounted hand brake to Lokar's universal twin emergency brake cables? Before I order the cables, I need to know if the Ford floor hand brake will work w/out mods or with what kind of mods.

I've used Lokar's complete hand brake and it's really good stuff. I'm sure if you phoned Lokar and asked, they might be able to give you some first hand knowledge about your question. Keep in mind that Lokar is probably in Louisville for NSRA this week. Good luck. Stu

Stu, I spoke with Lokar's Tech dept 2 days ago. They said they didn't know. It's their business to know= they were possibly pretending stupid so I'd by their floor hand brake. I was hoping somebody here could give me some advice. I may have to run the twin // brake lines sideways down the pass side of the tunnel to get the bends and clearance issues to work. Reason for buying Lokar's cable setup. I have the Mustg II hand brake lever and a Pinto hand brake lever.... . Can't use either's equalizer/yoke with cable design because of the bends and clearance issues.

Surely you just need to do a little metalwork and fab a bracket to connect the cables to the handbrake lever? It'll have simple metal lever that comes out the bottom with a hole it in.

I need to rig something up for emergency brake connection on the Speedway disc brake conversion, on my 9", but I haven't looked into which cables to use yet.

Several years ago I installed SSBC rear disc brakes on my '68 GT390 Mustg FstBk with the origial 9" rearend. . What a birtch to do. Almost gave up on the sixth attempt to hook the brake cables onto the rear calipers. Got it done and wouldn't do it again. Advise another vendor.

I have noticed the disc carriers run out of true a fair bit, being thin gauge pressed steel, 1/16" thick at most. But, seeing as it is all welded up and fitted I'll have to see how things go on the road.

The cables should prove interesting, but I have plenty of room to route them...

Wanted to get back on how it ended up. The Pinto/Mustg II floor mounted ebrake hand brake will work with Lokars twin cable system. You must remove the Ford adjusting bolt for the yoke. Do not use Lokar's clevis pin hardware. Instead use a 5/16" threaded rod about 6-7" long. File a flat spot about two inches long so the rod will slide into the Pinto linkage hardware because the hole in the linkage hardware is not round. It has a flat spot in it. See pix. Note: The Pinto hand brake must be mounted from under the car and bolted to the underside of the floor.

FWIW I have a Lokar assy in my '33. Its mounted to the floor 'crossways' right in front of the seat cushion. With that done, its completely out of the way, even with the lever UP.
