just got my new master cylinder from the filling station and as i suspected the pivot shafts on the brake and clutch lever are worn to the point that even with the new bushing in the mc the have a decent amount of play. any one have any quick ideas on how to shim out that slop. I'm broke right now and have code compliance breathing down my neck about it. so i need some thing quick?

Build up the worn areas with weld, then grind, file, and sand to fit.

Let the play go, it's not like the steering. :) As long as the rods are tight enough to get a decent pivot to the MC, you should be fine.

Code compliance? On brake pedals? How does that work? Is the shaft so worn that it's going to snap if you are hard on the brakes? Replace or repair sounds like your only two choices.

if the car sits for more than ten days or is dis***embled for more than ten day the city considers it a junk vehicle and can start fining you $200 a day or tow it at your expense. the slop in the pivots is not to bad but the rods that run through the floor shift enough to rub and squeak as you push em in. i think for now I'm just gonna enlarge the holes a tad and deal with it later. when the city isn't breathing down my neck
