Looking at a 52 Plymouth Suburban. It's the flat 6/3 speed combo. Here's my question, is there a swap you can do to put in an automatic tranny? I'm too big and tall to get my foot off and on the clutch. Thanks for any info.

Yes, Wilcap makes an adapter to use almost any GM automatic behind all MoPar flathead engines. Last I checked it was around $450.00 with torque plate for a GM convertor.

  3. Poweflite or Torqueflite should be a bolt in with factory parts, they used that six through '59. If I was putting a GM tranny in I'd save myself the $450 on the adapter and put the matching V8 in there with it.

You must be pretty big as my 6-4 250 lb uncle drove one of those for years with a compound four speed as his daily driver and huntin rig. There is more room in those cars than you think and you can always take the seat out and move it back a few more inches for more leg room.

But yes there should be adapters or as RNY said later model pieces that will let you bolt up a mid 50's trans without and adapter.

"73RR" here is Gary @ Quality Engineered Components. He has adaptors for the flat 6. I like his Hemi ones better than Wilcaps.
