Hey. I was wondering if a 185/75/R14 tire will fit on a 14"x7" rim and still be fine. I know that the diameter of the tire in inches comes out to be 7.28 inches (converted from 185mm). I was wondering if this will make any difference if i mounted these on a rim of that size. Thanx
Most all 1857514's require a 4.5 to 6 inch wide rim. Beyond that you are stretching the specifications and deviating from the manufacturer's intention and DOT guidelines. Not the safest thing to do, but it is done. In fact in some stores that I have visited they would not allow it, others do. Guess I would suggest that you be careful and not overload the tire and don't go into corners like your driving a Maserrati.
try this handy-dandy calculator, a**** lots of other specs it will tell you the rim size range for a given tire size. http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp?action=submit It lists 6.5 as the maximum. I'd say you can probably mount it but your handling will be noticeably worse than if you put the right tire on the right rim.
Thanx everyone for the help. it was greatly appreciated! I'm prob going to find a set of rims in the 6" area and def stay away from the 7" lol thanks again for the feedback
