I NEED SOME HELP GUYS! I HAVE DRUM BRAKES AND SPINDELS AND A STEERING BOX FROM A 1954 FORD PICK UP AND SOMEONE TOLD ME I CAN MAKE THESE WORK ON A CUSTOM SPRING OVER STRAIGHT AXLE.
IAM LOOKING FOR A STRAIGHT AXLE THAT WOULD GO WITH THESE BRAKES BECOUSE THEY ARE SELF ADJUSTING AND THEY ARE JUICE BRAKES.
I WAS LOOKING AT AN AXLE FROM SPEEDWAY PRODUCTS THAT COMES WITH 6" DROP,SPRING OVER,& RADIUS RODS FOR ABOUT $400.00.
COULD I MAKE THESE BRAKES FIT THIS FRONT END. IT IS GOING ON A 1931 CHEVY PICK-UP. IF ANYONE COULD HELP I HAVE NOT DONE A STRAIGHT AXLE YET THNX.

As Far As I Know The Brakes Will Fit On A 46-48 Spindle. There Is A Tex Smith Book How To Build A Hot Rod Ch***is And It Shows How To Do The Conversion.

    duplicate posts are not necessary

typing in all capitols is yelling

a 6" dropped axle is not a straight axle.

Your 54 Ford pickup brakes work on Fords from 1928 to 1948, and on the pickups til 1956. those brake shoes fit 1948 to 1966 pickups. 54 wheel cylinders were slightly larger than the other years, may be hard to find that one year only.

I just finish this swap with advice from deuce roadster. Actually followed his instructions
you will need 37-41 spindles. here is the post

As bad gas stated tex smiths book also gives a good instruction. howver Deuce roadster gives you more options for parts interchangeability utilizig self adjusting brakes
