With the realization that I am going back to school in just a few short weeks, I have sadly also realized that I am not going to have the cash to work on my rod. So I have been pulling out all of my model car supplies. I gotta keep rodding some how. I have been looking in my local hobby stores and its pretty dissmal. Where are you guys getting your models from?? Have all the good plastic models gone away? Cuz all I can get my hands on are Caprices with DONK rims. I would rather get poked in the eye than build that ****.

You could ask on the HAMB Plastic Model Builder's group here on the HAMB. I think the general prognosis is the internet, though.

Always that dreaded Ebay. Just sold a Hot Rod Magazine Beatnik Bandit. It only cost the buyer $17.00 delivered to his door.
You could try this.Right now I am unemployed and staying home to watch the kids.Been building models and selling them for twice as much, Sometimes more.Been searching and buying cheap Keep building to a 4 day minimum They're painted and thanks to ebay .Im doing alright and flipping them into real car parts. I would go nuts just watching and flipping to the hamb all day. I love this place but I got to get back on my cars.and one day get away from Ebay. And also get a job.I almost forgot........
I've noticed that over the past year that it is getting impossible to find anything but nascar models or the typical run of the mill **** that nobody builds, Really who is dying to go out and get themselves a model of a ford taurus.
I shouldn't tell you this but batman stuff sells. and anything vintage .Try Aurora for one ,batman ,even 32 ford models search .From my experiance is anything 32 will sell for good money.Funding my large scale ride by building in miniature.Everytime you build a model by the time you buy it ,paint it you have 40 to 50 in it.This is sad.Just build on the cheap .If it is fun your seeking .Think about it. All that money can go into your ride.

Got a Hobby Lobby nearby? Sometimes they have them 30% off for a week, and every other week they run a coupon for 40% off one item. Been buying mine to flip at the flea market, one guy has a good deal if you buy six, I take them to car shows and mark them about the going price.
I still only have plastic car, truck and aircraft kits........lol.......... www.scaleautomobilia.com.au .......been building models for 50yrs, have had my hotrod for 40 yrs and opened the hobby shop 16yrs ago.........my wife hopes its just a fad..........lol.........Andy Douglas
PM me with any specific requests, I'm always looking to thin the herd and have over 200 sealed kits on hand. I ship US postal and don't make anything on the shipping, it is what it is. Bob
I good, well supplied hobby shop should carry what you need. There are a lot of kits out there with cars from the 20's to current, including the 50's & 60's. The problem is finding a well supplied hobby shop in NM I guess.
There's a new company on the scene called Moebius. Actually, they're not new to models, but new to car models. Their first two offerings are a '53 Hudson, and a '55 Chrysler 300. They're not on shelves yet, but a friend who has a test shot (and is very picky) says that the Hudson kit is VERY well done. I'll get to see the test shot next month at Indy Goodguys. I can't freakin' wait!
