I ran across an old car collector guy today and was given a tour of his barns

Nash, Packards, Hupmobile,Chrysler and one i cant remember right now what it was.

Guy was really nice although not selling any of them, we were just 2 car guys remembering the past, He lived it, born in 35'

He wanted to take me thru a few more barns, but I had to get back to work..we agreed I could come back and have a tour when I had more time:cool:
    Thanks Richard

Not barns, rather purpose built metal clad storage buildings. Still neat, lots of quiet collectors around.

The barn finds of the future are the future projects we're hoarding today.

That Hupmobile in the 1st pic almost gives me wood! Love those headlights. The 32 Buick looks kool too. I wouldn't mind taggin along if he'd let ya do that. We never know what lurks in our own backyards, eh?

    True

I'll keep ya posted Boss, when i talk to him again I'll see how receptive he is.

he gave me an insight as to why he has held on to these for so long without doing much with them..they are like family to him..and he has no wife so he gets to make all the rules;)

I think Im going to drive my Hot Rod up there and give him a ride, maybe motivate him to get one of them running..think i might even suggest I help him get one going.
Time is on no mans side, but having fun driving a car like one of these is time well spent

at least one of these needs to be back out on the road giving him some enjoyment other then looking at them.

  12. That answers my question, and as i don't really know Hups, i was thinking that could be what is was. The headlights got me to.

really cool pics, thanks! I would of had to be late for work, not seeing those other two barns would have drove me crazy. And yes, take the guy for a ride in your car, the smile on his face will be priceless!

Nice little stash. It would be neat to hear why he likes each one or the story of how he ended up with each one. To bad he doesn't drive them.

That is a really great idea and a nice gesture on your part. You just may indeed inspire him to get one running to enjoy the open road with one of his wives!

Most of the best collections are still out here and no one knows they exsist! There was an old farm house in my neck of the woods that I had p***ed 100's of times. Never knew the barns were full of old motorcycles. NO junk, all restored and rare bikes. When the auction took place it drew the likes of Jay Leno (not him, but a rep buying for him) and a few motorcycle museums. Some of the bikes were thought to be the only running ones in exsistance! You never know what is in a barn and never turn down a chance to look at an "old timers" junk!

I wish i was a better journalist..I was there for about an hour or so, and he had so much to tell

I did get some of the stories on some of the cars, as to how he found them and how they made it across the country to him, but i couldnt piece it all togeather..with as many as it sounds like he has it would take days to sort it all out, just the stories..let alone the cars.

I do feel he is thinking about the investment he has made, with reference to the children he has, although grown adults now,
he was receptive to getting the Riley on the road, i could dig turning some wrenches on that with him, to see if we could get it fired off

Im really not concitering buying any of these..unless its his idea. I would just love to jaw with this guy , learn what he knows..work with him toward getting at least one of these driveable and enjoying the time spend working with him

Im going to stop in today on my lunch break and give him my buisness card , he gave me his with his personal number written on the back, maybe get a few minuets to poke my head into another building if he is in the mood

just the smell of each car was like taking me back in time

Update: i stopped by today and p***ed along my buisness card, and told him to hit me up for any help getting one on the road for some fun, told him to keep an eye out for a black Tudor someday soon for a ride.
He was in the middle of working so I headed back to work myself
