I'm building some 1/3 scale belly tanks for either R/C or ceiling hangers. My friends tell me that I should produce them for sale. Just wondering what you think. I'm doing these for friends and myself right now. One went to my good friend Cotton Eubanks in S.C., the white gelcoat one is for my friend and Bonneville racer Tom Shea, I'm going to paint it as the SoCal car. And the yellow one is mine. This one is powered by a 6.5 hp harbor freight engine and has a leaf spring front end just like the real ones. Also in the pics are a stretched one. Stretched 6.5 inches to simulate a 20 in ch stretch on the full size cars. Plus there are 2 pics of the plug for the drivers head( cromwell helmet and all). One pic has the red stretched shell with a yardstick along side so you can see the size. With Christmas approaching I was just wondering if there would be some interest. I'd like to hear from you guys. I have other real interesting 1/3 projects going on too but maybe later on that. Thanks guys-Dave-SpinnerD
Wow thoes are really cool! I would be very interested for one to hang up in the shop. You pretty close to me too, are you building a real belly tank by any chance?
Thanks guys for the responces! I guess that just about makes up my mind to move forward on making these for sale. I'll let you know when and how much very soon. BTW, the question was asked what I'm using for wheels/tires---for static display ( in the pics) I molded up the wheels and tires. For the powered one I'm using 410/350 X6 ground smooth pnuematic tires. Thanks again--I'll get back to the people who responded soon.-spinnerD
Try www.scalemotorcars.com .... Us guys there are into large scale models... I'm sure they'll get a kick out of it like I did...
Hey Dueces--thanks, I added that site to my favorites. Thanks again and I'm glad that you liked what you saw--its encouraging. Hey Doc---lighten up some. I was just asking if there is some interest--apparently there is.
Would love one hanging in the rafters..call me when you get an Australian agent!! the one with the engine..do you sit on it? You couldnt possibly fit in it!!
These are cool, no one said anything yesterday when Ganahl was peddling his new book, is it who you are ?
Oh man, this was a while ago but I didn't mean my 'spam' post to be taken seriously!! I guess its my own fault, should have put up a smiley or something. They are very cool though! Doc.
Not to take anything away from the subject of this thread, but MAZOOMA has taken a beautiful picture of a perfect example of what CAN go wrong with the ACKERMAN PRINCIPLE as applied to a tie-rod mounted in FRONT of an axle...WITHOUT MAKING ADJUSTMENTS TO CORRECT IT. Please, don't beat me up, but THIS example is SOOO perfect to show the "ill-effect" that I couldn't p*** it up. I did, however, think this little tank was one of the most novel little critters flittin' around the pits this year. DD
