Ok guys I have a 54 Ford that was built awhile back (no idea when) anyways it has sat for quite along time. Someone shaved the doors and the trunk. Question is how do I open the trunk? I've looked everywhere and cannot find anything. I really dont want to climb through the back seat as rats have lived there for awhile and the floors might fall through. Anyone have any ideas?

My '54 Ford is shaved with an electric solenoid some guys use a cable, any way the latch is directly above the gas filler and they pull fairly EZ you might try shining a bright light down thru the big holes under the package tray and using a coat hanger to snag the latch and pull it up,you may even get lucky and find what they have attached to the latch.

I hope I get that lucky. Never could find a cable thats what I was expexting/hoping to find. Gonna move it in my shop this weekend and spend some time on it. Anybody have a "historical document" document for it?

    Why ?

Is it missing the VIN Plate in the Driver Door Jam?

If it has a VIN it should be Easy to have it registerd with DMV.

  6. Ok lets see the rest of the car now. Somebody loved her at one time. Hope you are putting her back to what she was. Look for buttons under the dash. Mine is a small one near the steering column to pop my trunk

I think it has the VIN plate. Last time I tried to get one registered without a title in was a PITA, they made me trace the VIN with pencil, take photos and a few other things. If I remeber right they send a letter out to the previous owner which in this case may be better. Whoever has the title has probably moved. PO was in TX and one before that was in OK nether of them ever had the title that I know of.

You definately have a car worth bringing back to it's former GLORY. Love the Desoto grill & 56 Packard taillights.
