Had a win on ebay recently. Got a GMP 1/18th diecast Pierson Brothers coupe and a supposed trophy of a Peirson Brothers run. Although I m still trying to ascertain if it is a trophy for the 3D coupe. Even if it isn't, it is a neat old trophy just the same. Anyhow already having one of the GMP Pierson Brothers coupes in my collection, I have decided to modify my E-bay purchase. Still only in the early mockup and decision stages as yet. Sometimes I think I have just to many parts, that tend to cloud my decision making, as to what style and direction a model will take. The drag version on the lower right kicks ***! Is it just me or is this thread starting earlier all the time. I guess it's Sunday somewhere.
I probably shouldnt be posting these. But these are some early pictures of my entry for the recent model buildof. Still need to add salt and a few other details.
Give me a few minutes and Ill show you something I m working on.... Anyway bought this toy of a hamber .Impulse buy .Im gonna customize it and repaint .Now Im building 2 cars ,One for the model contest and this one.
Wow That midget is nice ,Great job ,I think its amazing I could never build something like that,In that scale....
the midget is super. what scale is it. you got a shot with a coke bottle or a ruler beside it so i can tell exactly what size it is. if its not much trouble. thanks for posting shots of it.
Old Sprinter, breathtaking!! Carps, this has to be the first time anyone has shown you up??!! Still thats going to look killer, have you decided on a style yet?? The drag version, bottom right looks good. Hell, they all look good! Finally made some room to get back into building, next week end I hope to have something to post! Not sure what one to get back into..... or Doc.
My wife is traveling and has the camera or I would gladly take another picture next to a ruler, but it's 1/8 scale, about 13 3/4" long. The top photo is on a counter top that is 14" wide, if that helps? Thanks .
Hi guys ! nice work everybody ! Doc, i tell ya years after years : finish that 40 !!! Can never get enough of your paint jobs, Zed. The Merc is a beauty! Awesome scratch building job on the midget. Here's something for me to put on the table. This ch***is was already built for a Bonneville roadster. I had a spare sedan body, so I detailed it up and dropped it on the roadster rails. Interior detail work is all scratch built. the roof was dropped about 4 scale inches or so. All engine and ch***is and roll cage details are also scratch built, as are the front and rear axles and suspension. The headers are 180's that wrap around the back of the distributor and then along the p***enger side of the ch***is to dump out by the right rear wheel. Helps keep a slim profile when the hood and nose are on for more speed on the salt
Great work Zed! Love the color combo. What do you use to create your clean masks? How about a good ol' tech tips on your painting techniques? ... or should I go look at some older posts?
Alyn; that's outstanding work. Is it 1/24 scale or real? Zed, if I could paint like that, why I'd open a model car paint shop. You're amazing. Doc, build the 3 window, that's too cool.
ALyn, the sedan is killer. Great detail... Doc, looking good. Old Sprinter, live that li'l racer. whodaky, can't wait to see what you have in mind.... I have a 40 Ford coupe I was given as a going away gift, from a neighbor. I love the detail but want to change a few things. Foremost, I wan to change the monochrome turquoise painted grille and headlight surrounds. I also want to put on a set of big n little bias ply tires with vintage racing rims or steelies. At some pint, I'd like to build a flat head in place of the 350/350 combo and find a 9" rear end to replace the 'vette rear. Id also like to loose the Recaro seats in favor of a pleated bench. I may scratch build the seat and engine. Thanks to the rest of you guys for sharing your goods.
Zed, you are a freak!! Always brilliant. Alyn, you may well be the freaks apprentice Excellent work Doc, for Christ's sake, finish that 40 model. Been lookin' at it for years. Cheers Rod
Jigger; I got that 1/18th diecast '40 coupe on ebay. No wheels tyres or driveline. I did a quick makeover. Wheels and front tyres from a Henjry J, rear tyres from the over-stocked parts box. 350 Chev and 5 speed from a GMP '32 roadster I pulled apart a while back. Off course dropped it all down low. Yet to change the interior. I really like how it turned out. The color really works. I can even live with the painted grille and headlight rims for now. Geoff aka whodaky
Thanks a lot for the nice comments every body ! Na, just look at my fotki ! i've used to take pics of each and every steps for my first paint jobs ... not for that one, but for a lot of the others ! I believ you should find what you need by the way, the diorama is not from me, i've bought it from a friend as a back ground for my pics
