what would be a good steering setup for a chevy with dual front springs. I wanted to do a cross steer rack but I dont think I will be able to fit it. So is a vega box or what other box is best and cheap. Thanks
i found putting in an F1,48-52(?) in my 32chev w/327 was the perfect solution for me. it retains the original spring set up
I wish there was stuff like that here in NH The junk yards have all been crushed and used as scrap. You might find something as old as the 90's and whats a swap meet I have never seen one around here I loved all that stuff when I lived in TX but NH is a not very street rod friendly.
A couple of very good possibilities--either the '60-'66 Ford Econoline van or the '64-'69 Dodge A-100 van box is good for side steer applications, and would be easier to find than a good F-1 box and probably cheaper. The Dodge van box is a GM Saginaw design designed for side steer rather than cross steer applications. Either one gives you a skinny column that looks better and takes up less legroom in a '20s vehicle and has factory turn signal switch so you don't have to use an add-on unit. I gave a friend of mine a Dodge A-100 box out of a '69 Dodge van I junked out many years ago to use in his '21 Studebaker roadster. He loves it and says it drives great.
