So I found this Brother light industrial sewing machine. Model # DB2-B763-3 for sale! I don't know tho if it would be good for upholstery! I have searched on google and other places and can't find information! Does anybody know if this is a good one for that purpose or can go through leather easily? They guy selling it did not know! It's also for $200 OBO? Is that a good price? .::BVD::.
not the best out there, but 200 makes it a bargan all day long, ill buy all you can find at that price.
A bit of changing in the search produced some answers. http://www.google.com/search?source...9l0l16968l16l16l0l0l0l0l345l3362l0.7.8.1l16l0 I'd be more interested in what comes with it and if it needs servicing or repairs.
I'm not familar with the model but locally we have a listing for that exact machine for $800 used. I'd agree it's a deal but being an industrial unit you should try it and see how well you can manage it. It may be set up for high speed work and would need a reducer or a pulley change to slow it down.
I don't know anything about Brother line of machines and if the seller is saying he don't know what it can do it most likely can't do leather. I have an older Consew machine. What I learned while shopping machines is that for upholstery you need a walking foot machine and be sure it has all steel gears. There are several brands with cast gears and they just don't do heavy materials for long. Also if a machine was used for production like clothing or camping the operation of the head speed will be way to fast for custom automotive work. You should also operate any machine your looking at and should be able to one step stitch with the treadel so it will do corners cleanly. The machine needs a Cone Clutch so it will slip to do that kind of work not just lock and surge. Other than that I don't know much. The Wizzard
