So after restoring an old car which is fairly rare I was unable to find a supply of oil filters. It was not a screw on or element it was a canister with 2 threaded holes for input and output. I had one but held off using it as a just in case.

This was my solution to the problem.

I removed the original filter and separated the 2 halves of the housing.

I then Fabricated a base for the filter so a screw on filter could be used. Toyota and about 100 others.

I then painted the housing and made a sticker using a label program

Then installed it back in the car.

Thanks guys. It was the best solution that kept the correct look. A remote filter would have been easier but would not have looked correct.

The oil filter was simple compared to trying to create a water pump from a bunch of old parts that looked like a chunk of corroded aluminium and a "rebuild kit" that was for the wrong size motor and contained none of the parts needed. :D
