Anyone have any update on the party? I 287 North was closed yesterday due to flooding and a collapse of the pavement at the 44.1 mile marker. Looks like you would have to get off at exit 43 and take 202 up to Latham and go from there. Anyone know of any other roads that are closed?

Jen, In the past, you must ride in with somebody, in a pre-72 car. No spectator walk-ins, nor parking. ***ume it's the same. Does anyone know if still on, in wake of Irene? Wondering if they'll be able based on how "wet" the field got, or will be?

Jen, I heard thru the locals here it's $20 "donation" for a spectator car.

But you are kinda press, show them the camera, turn on the charm to the guys at the gate.

287 is gonna be out for a long time. the traffic is horrible. River road where the farm is is OK. If you can get to the north of the washout, you can take 287 south or use local roads. East of here where the P***aic river basin is is very bad.

Don't plan on travel here for morning or afternoon rush times. Get here for early afternoon, leave after dark.

The state ***holes lowered a huge lake that feeds into the Rockaway river. They did this for days before the storm, so the river was up to it's max before the storm even got here. That's what washed out 287 when the storm waters added to the already max flow.

I'm coming in from CT , prob in a hotrod. I usually take 287 over the tap and follow 87 to the show . I'm not familiar with the storm damage , is that on my route I'm taking?

you are getting off 287 a couple of exits before the damage, and the damage is at north bound 43-44.

I just drove by the farm 15 min ago ... everything looks great, and they're setting up for tomorrow. I work in the area (Parsippany) and traffic is a nightmare today. Plan ahead and check for road closures that may affect your travel route. See everybody tomorrow !

Plan to attend in the '56 Olds. My friend will have his '55 olds (one of HRJen's Exes Hehehe).

Traffic is rather chaotic is spots. 287 going south i.e. from NY will be fine sans traffic. going 287 from 80 will require alternate routes.

Parts of rt 46 are closed so keep that in mind. Wayne, Fairfield & Denville areas are closed.

I'm leaving from Rockaway (exit 37/ green pond) in the afternoon if people want to tag. PM for quickest results. I'll check back occasionally.

Whats this pay for food thing? I dont remember that last year. Thought they had the grill open.

    Jen,

In the past they let specatators walk or drive in for a fee. If not there is parking around the 'hood and then you can pay for a wrist band to get in. You bringin' your paint box? Tell 'em you are the striper chick!

No not usually wet or muddy.

    going

this is some directions from Facebook regarding road conditions:

    Dead Mans Curve LLC
Ok, Here's the Deal. We are open for business at NOON!!!! Leave yourself ample time for traffic issues. Part of 287 North is open North bound as I understand it!!! Don't come in Changebridge road that is closed, at this point. 287 South to Montville is no problem. 46 off of 80 to Beverwyck will work, make a left at the end of Beverwyck, get on Lake shore drive and make a right onto Vreeland Ave. Brings you right to the farm!!! any questions call!!!! Will post number tomorrow!!!
