I'm doing a 1931 Chevy p/u 292 6.I'm painting the body a medium grey metallic,the engine is black.Thinking about doing the frame the same as the body color or black.What do you think?
What????????? Where did you get that idea?????? Thousands of hot rods have their frames painted body color (mine included) and it has been done that way for a zillion years. Now if it is a full fendered car, the frame might look better black, but it is still subjective at least. Don
On a '32 FORD by all means paint your frame same as the body color. On a '31 chevy? paint it black and maybe even ch***is black. They're not as pretty as '32 Ford frame and should leave the "pop" to the body. But I don't think it would look terrible same color neither.
Ok then yeah paint it the same color as the body if just the friewall forward is going to be seen. That'll look good.
What do you think about Rustoleum hammered grey,I've used it on other things around here looks good and is pretty tough.And it would be different from the smooth paint on the body.
Not familiar with that one, but I think the concept of having a slight difference in textures is a good one. The body on my 23 was very glossy black, but when I sprayed the frame I backed the gun away from the work on the last coat so I got a slightly textured finish to it. That allowed the body to get more focus and actually looked pretty good. It was also more forgiving for dropped wrenches and dirt. Don
IMO, that stuff gives it a cheap "Made in China" look to it, if you know what I mean. I've used that paint on my ch***is parts that are hidden, and that's the impression it leaves me with. Just sayin....
