I have looked and looked and looked some more to find a cool looking 7.50x16 blackwall other than a Firestone or a BF. I really dig the Lesters but they are WWW only in that size. any one have any suggestions? would even be open to a quality used set, but I cant find anything... the Firestones will work if need but at the risk of sounding like ****ie I just want something that isn't super common... as always any info is always appreciated! thanks
Dunlop 750x16 Dunlop D2/103 I've been running them for sometime, here's a supplier form over here, not sure about over there http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/search?searchMethod=searchTerm&searchScope=site&searchUrl=&sortBy=Diameter&category=&searchTerm=1157&x=13&y=7
Universal Vintage Tire is the Dunlop Vintage Distributor here in the US. https://www.universaltire.com/dunlo...ply-tires/750h16-dunlop-d2-103-blackwall.html Or, a little bit of black tire paint will hide the white wall.
The Dunlops are a good choice. If you consider radials, be careful of buying a 750/16 light truck tires that are way heavy. There are some 650 sizes sold by Diamond Back Cl***ic Tires, but are NOT a good choice for relatively light hot rods. You might want to check with Diamond Back as they have a service whereby they grind off the white walls on some tires for customers who want smooth black sidewalls. They may be able to convert the Lester’s you like to black walls. I have had good luck with the Coker “Excelsior” bias ply tire, but it is expensive and seems to be wearing pretty rapidly. There is also a radial version of the tire. The Excelsior sure looks good on a nostalgia hot rod. Also, Coker sells a more conventional radial tire made to look like a 50s p***enger car bias ply tire. My buddy Jack Luther has a set on his roadster and he speaks well of the tires, these too are pretty expensive and are available in 650/16. On all of the Coker brand tires there are matching ”little" sizes to go with the 650/16s. I ***ume the tires are for the rear axle. trakrodstr
