Looks like we have about six cars leaving Fri morning from Jacksonville headin toward Atlanta for the Drive invasion show on Sunday at the Starlight Six Drive Inn. We will stop by a cool old covered wooden bridge somewhere around Winder Ga.( state Park)go dirt roadin, and probably eat some good ole fried chicken and potato salad, finished off with some ice cold watermelon . Saturday we plan on going to the swap meet up by Road Atlanta Raceway. Any HAMBERs that are interested in cruising or meeting up with us let me know. Is cool to road trip with a bunch of cool cars and good friends. We always take the back roads.you never know what you will run across...... Dave
I can't make the road trip, but I'd like to go to the swap meet since I'll be in north Atlanta anyway. Do you have more info on the location?
..The NE Georgia Swap Meet is held the first Saturday of every month, March thru November, at Lanier National Speedway in Braselton. Directions: I-85 to Exit 129/Hwy 53. WEST on Hwy. 53; 4.5 miles on the right hand side, across from Road Atlanta. THIS IS A COOL SWAP MEET mostly guys cleaning out there garages ,yards just looking to make a few bucks for dragging stuff up there and for gas. Car guys who just dont want to scrap good stuff other gear heads could use. Real nice. Not overrun with chinnese knock-off crap and Taiwan repops
It was a tuff toss up. We really wanted to go down to the Iron Horse there cause there are gonna be a lot of cars. But being a lot of us had the time off, and there are such a diversity of venues and activities, we went for Atlanta. I mean most folks these day have never been to a drive in. Besides if we stay to close to home our wives will have us enjoying HONEY DEWS...... not watermelons......Dave
ye I wish I would have planned better, I hear that Rocky Erricson from the 13th Floor Elevators is playing!
yea the band roster looks pretty good ,plus there gonna play Smokey and the Bandit.....I think I saw Uncle Rico there there other year.......haha....... He finally made it back to 1982.
Great to have you guys up! Brad's swap keeps growing every month, and having folks coming as far as you guys is a good sign that his hard work is paying off. Make sure you say hello- Brad, Stevie G and I are usually right by the sound booth. Also, if your wives are into antiques, there are some great shops in Braselton/Hoschton (about 5-10 min from the swap on the other side of 85).
