Shoebox power steering

I need info on Power steering and yes I've already done search I just want to know from the horse's mouth which way worked out the best for people and get pics of the process Im going to pull my motor for a rebuild and figured that would be the time for this as well thanks for any info and pics. also any info on firewall mount power breaks.

 

I'm considering doing the same myself, on my wifes '49.
Looks like you can use Volvo 164 power steering!?
Anybody else know what to use?

I've seen that on some other threads but I haven't seen any in detail how to's on it I was hoping for some info from people that have done some

 

There's some VERY detailed 164-box info out there, both here and on other sites; I had a list of some of 'em somewhere but can't find it now

I haven't done the conversion so I can't tell you how it works out.

Those boxes are now forty years old and are getting harder to find. The ZF box from an E32/E34-series BMW ('86-94 7-series, '89-95 5-series) looks pretty similar dimensionally I think, and has the same direction of rotation, and if someone's got a reasonable tolerance for experimentation they might want to try it out.

all the volvo guys just laughed when i asked if they had a p.s. box and told me that few came with it.

 

look on shoeboxford.com and search power steering there is a box from gearheadracing or something that looks like a good fit but pricey
