What do you use to clean your suede paint job? I have used windex with satisfactory results, it leaves a white residue. I've tried it on primer and basecoat with the same result. So what's the best product to spot clean with. I've heard of people using mineral spirits but I'm skeptical. So got any suggestions? Let's hear them.
CLEAN SUEDE PAINT?!?!?!? You mean you're supposed to do that kinda shit?? Too busy enjoyin my 55 to worry bout it bein dirty... and yeah the baby wipes thing does work, if you really GOTTA clean it.
All words look harsh in black & white... You know what I mean. It's what the other guys said...ya can't worry about it looking just like the day you sprayed it, forever, because it ain't gonna! I like the baby wipes idea (whatever baby wipes are?) How about just covering it with stick-on Pampers? When I painted our beat-up old Astro van flat black, just for shits& giggles, because painting ANYTHING to LOOK LIKE it's just primered, permanently is a BIG FUCKING JOKE! Wife said she was going to run it thru the local car wash and I said DON'T DO IT!!! Reason? a lot of them leave the liquid hot wax on all the time whether you pay for it or not, and it will really fuck up a suede job fast....end up looking like the walls in the big cat cages at the zoo during mateing season..
The things ya wipe babies asses with... got a lil alcohol or some such substance that is ok on skin.... those things are frickin great for removing dried paint n stains from ya hands too... n ya smell all nice n girly...on second thoughts, better leave those for the billet boys...they dont like getting dirty do they??
If its faded or oxidizing wash once in a while with COMET lightly, and rinse as it does have abrasive in it, but it will make it look really fresh again. Its what people always used to clean chalk boards and make them look good again, and it really does work on Primer well. I suggest tho trying it in a spot kinda hidden first just to test it so in case it acts differently on yours or something then its not in the middle of your door or something.
Baby wipes sounds like a good idea, got a shit load of those around here. No pun intended. Not too worried about it looking super clean just need something to take off the bird shit and bug guts. You know
Never heard of using armorall before. That sounds greesy. Maybe in my hair.I'll try it on someone elses car first. LOL
This is going to sound a little odd but I have used "Lemon Pledge" with good results to temporarly restore flat black.
Hey Guys, I've have used both Lemon Pledge and WD40 and mineral spirits to bring a bit of shine back to Flat or Satin black but remember this one thing...... Those products have oil,wax in them and will bleed into the primer paint over time and especially in the sun. If you ever want to paint your car down the road with a color coat of shiney paint you really have to do it right and plastic media strip or soda blast the body primer off and re-primer and paint again. It is almost impossible to get that oil/wax residue that has bleed into the base primer off the car. I've orbital sanded and then/ wax grease remover/laquer thinner/ final etch etc all for fianl prep and believe me the paint will react / fish eye / bubble etc. because of the oil/wax. Jusy want to give you the heads up and only from experience this several times. To be on the safe side I would soda / media blast and do a complete job before putting any paint on the car. Cob
This cracks me up, How to make my flat black car shiney. :ROFLMAO: Mine has DP90, I spray it off at the carwash and use the hot wax. I just have suede flames though.
I use water and a sponge on my DP90. Spot cleaning with anything always leaves a shiny spot . I tried WD40 and Pledge but ya' gotta do the whole damn car !!! If I want to clean off bird shit or road grime or dust ,I just use water and a sponge.
My truck is painted with a combination of DP-40 and DP-90 (it's a dark gray color). The paint is three years old and starting to "chalk" a little. It's bad to water-spot. I have started washing it with regular household detergent and a gray (fine) well used, scotchbrite pad. This freshens it up real nice without removing much paint. When the paint was new I used mineral spirits to remove oil spots, hand prints, etc. Sam
A lil off the topic but, what about using the Rustoleum Satin Black paint? Is that stuff okay to use as a paint on the car? I was thinking of brushing it on pretty thick and then buffing out the brush lines???
yeah have shiny paint like every other muthafu.. out there huh!!! no thanx suede is kool!! you tired of that kolor you change it!!! shiny sucks!!
??????????????...are you kidding me??...all i see is suede shit, me personally am getting sick of seeing it...why cant you change the shiny color if you get sick of it???...same shit, you still gotta sand it and mask it.
But, suede paint is good at hiding ameteur body work. Not everyone is a professional body man, or can afford to have the work done.
My wagon is white primer, and I use a mix of Simple Green and water, and I scrub with Scotchbrite green pads. The white shows everything (finger prints etc.) and the Simple Green leaves it clean. Even if a car ain't painted, it can still be clean. As was mentioned, the Scotchbrite pads don't take off much paint, but they do remove some of it. I'm not sure how well this would work on any other color of primer, but it works bitchin' on white. Scotch~!
