Nice car with a nice personnal history. Your plans sound good. Happy to hear you got the flathead running. That will save you a ton of buck$! Really keen to see some more pics. Thanks for sharing.

Nice car! I wasn't aware that Kanter did actual service work. Be nice to see the car on the road this year!

Just got off the phone with Shop.
Car is running, and running well. even 65 on the highway (with questionable tires). needed fuel pump, some brake work, and as mentioned gas tank and sender. tune-up. surprisingly clutch and trans in good shape at this point.

Kanter has a presence at Lead East. Shop manager asked if he could bring it down to display. I said "sure!".

    Look for her.

She'll be at lead east this weekend, but with spinners and skirts. "Barn Fresh" at the Kanter Restoration display.

Got to ride in her this morning. People have been looking at me funny all day, what with my Nicholson-as-the-Joker grin on my face.

  16. Very nice! Kanter are some good people. I even dig the color. What are the long term plans? Leave it as is and drive it!

Plan? Get some blankets or cheap seat covers for the interior. drive it in my zip code until spring when I'll get new tires.
maybe run into some trim parts at swap-meets and such in-lieu of fixing/re-chroming. drive it. fend off offers. drive it. wash it once in a while? get my kids [more] into it.

save up for the cosmetic restoration

Cool ride. Gotta say though, they look funny unchopped for once.

Jim J nice cherry car , you don't find these lurking in the dark very often . If I am reading you right , it maybe will stay in the total stock form it's in now ?

What do you mean funny, funny how? How am I funny?
    {/voice}

    :)
    thanks
yes, I know what you mean. it *almost* looks wrong. She stands tall in person...
A chop is not her future tho. Not on my watch anyway. To be honest, I never cared for the chop. However, recently getting back into this, I've seen quite a few chops I like, even some of the more extreme custom treatments.

    thanks.
she looks good in pics and from 20 feet at this point.
I plan to keep as is: stock more or less, aside from her nose and louvers, decked trunk. oh, and straight pipes :)
I might go lt.grey/dk.grey on the interior re-do (more exterior options, and probably easier on the budget) but most likely keeping an OEM-style at least.

  24. Jim, Don't forget to send us a pic of it at the show this weekend! Did you say you were putting skirts on her?
