Eat your heart out ChromedRat!!!!! Funny how things turn out, CR wanted a 64 Imp. but his is rusty-bad and got a 65 instead. A hundred miles away I wanted a 65 bad, and happened to find this 64 Biscayne... SAWEEEET !!!! I mean FREE is always NICE but WOW !!!! The floors are SOLID, frame SOLID, motor turned witha pull on the belt! Even after 31 years in a backyard, in OHIO no less!!!! Exterior sheetmetal took a beating from the elements. 4 of 6 side-trim pieces suc***bed to the lawnmower and the remaining gr*** wasn't nice to the lower fenders and doors. The quarters need Minimal work, whl tubs are Nice, and rear whl-lips are nearly complete. Underneath is beautiful everywhere the well drained sandy soil protected it. Which means only the rear of trunk pan is Really ugly! OK, so it's just a 283 pg car, but hey... Less nose weight!!! And when I got the Cragars on it, it already has a perfect stance! I need some 15x8.5 TQ for the back... With the way it sits I'm thinking to just refurbish what's there and skip the Econo axle. Header exhaust out in front of rear wheels, Add some basic interior, leave the "patina" for now... SO, what do you guys think?????
Cool. Hmmmm g***er...I remember a white 63/64 that was pretty "Reliable" Let me know what you need for your new project. My old man has a '64 Imp and I had a '65 Biscayne...we are always running across parts at swapmeets for these 62-66 boats. My one neighbor has an all original '63 'scayne with the big dual quad 409/4gear and the other neighbor has a '63 Imp w a 327/p'glide SS clone. Gotta make it short...heading to my graduation ceremony (Finally) and momma's contractions are at the 9-10 minutes apart interval. The race is on....baby or ceremony?
Good score! If the trunk is bad, be sure to check the rear body mounts, too. If there is a crack in the body (upper quarter near ths c-pillar) they are for sure bad. The whole rear of the body kind of hangs from those mounts and they are known for rusting out.
you, sir, i challenge to a duel... looks like a nice find though. i gotta make it up there sometime and look at the wonders of northern ohio's sandy soil on old cars again.
If you need taillights or other small ****, PM me. I got a bunch of stuff left over from the SS I had. A nice gauge cluster that shows only a hundred and fourty six (000146) miles too... BTW, I'm jealous. Jay
Nice find Rooster. That's a fact. The left side rear body mount on my 64 BelAir is pretty much gone. Right side isn't too bad. Now what? I've found a guy locally that makes repro boxes. Any tech info on how to swap mounts?
I wrapped one of those around a tree one night in 1973. It was white with a blue top. I paid $50 for it. I traded it to a guy for a 61 and gave him fifty to boot. He ran a small wreaking yard, and auto sales. I would buy one of his old cars drive the dog out of it for a few months, trash the motor, wreck it, etc and then trade it back to him and buy another. Never paying more that $50 to $100 for any of them.
Hey THANX for the compliments on the find! I'll check the rear bodymounts. Quarters are Good! There Is some rot on the lower C-pillars right at the driprails but nuttin further back. Also the rr qtr is missing some metal behind the bumper. Mostly just looks like the rear of the trunk pan was too exposed and close to the ground, as it's better the further forward ya go. Lady hasn't found the key yet and I'm afraid to crawl in there from the back seat cuz I found a big snake skin on the front floor and there's ants and spiders in it. Did I mention the mummified mouse that fell outa the trunk hole? LOL!!@! I think I'll Chrome it!!!! Naw, just wouldn't make as Big a statement as a larger rodent does!!! Anybody got a good rad sup? This one ****s. Thinkin maybe fenders and doors too if I can find em reasonable... fat chance huh?
Curly, good ta hear from ya! Congrats on both counts! I didn't end up goin south grrr.... I'm about half as far from ya's now. Anybody goin to the Blue Suede Cruise at NRP ??? CR, Yer ON!!! Give me the year you've had to sort yours out to get mine together and we'll hit BSC @ NRP or Mokan or wherever you call it !!! ;-)>
look in the cl***ifieds for parts, i sold a guy with the handle of wolfie a really decent hood. oh ****, i DO have a very very solid driver's door. has a patch welded on the bottom, welds not ground, i THINK it even has gl*** in it, and i have a full set of side gl*** for that car... almost forgot!
Yeah man I could probly use that door! PS is worse than DS though, it's deskinned along the bottom AND dented. I do need to pick up a DS window mounted track. Thinkin I'll head over ta Bob's and have a looksee this Sat. I should put together a yard crawl for BSC weekend... As much as I'd like to go support John's boys at the Double Date I want to stay close to home and mention (nicely of course) to the organizers that "Cruisin Times" is being less than customarily cordial about scheduling large events in same regions at the same time. I'd Like to go to both, next year....
Great find you got there Rooster. Should make a sweet little cruiser when you're done. Thats for the comment about the Double Date. Hopefully you'll get to come down one day. We must have had the right thought all along. It seems more and more events are moving on to that weekend.
that door of mine is damn near cherry for ohio, solid as hell. looks like it was pulled off years ago, patched, and sat. made me cuss up and down that i didn't have a post car to use it on. i'm down with bob's, fer sure. they got any edsels there? buddy of mine has a 58 he wants to get goin.... what's BSC? any shows sorta around ohio that yer gonna be at, john b?
What part of your trunk is rotted? I have the center section, new from CARS... I wanna get rid of it... I traded it to DIRTYT for a trans but ended up with it again somehow??? Jay
