Was trying the 32 roadster on the dragstrip yesterday, and the T5 behind my 325 Hemi Dodge just broke....reverse will not engage, and 5th just started to do the same. Besides, it's very noisy at idle. Guess the Hemi is too strong for this trans. Since car has just been finished, I am not in the mood to modify the car to adapt a better trans, so will have to use what I have. Is there someone specialized in this trans that can get me the parts to modify and improve it? The T5 is out of some Ford, don't have an idea where it comes from, bought off ebay a couple of years ago. The engine is really strong, and need the engine rebuilt to handle the torque of the Hemi.
    Thank you

Can a NWC be upgraded to a WC by simply installing WC internals?

G-Force or Hanlon have upgrades to make a pretty stout T5.

  10. I had Hanlon rework my 3550 and they do really good work and are fair people.

Yes, done it many times. You will need EVERYthing out of the WC except the case. It can be done.

If Reverse and 5th won't engage it probably a problem with that shift rail, since it operates both. If it grinds going into reverse its the pilot bearing, its gulled on the input shaft causing the whole gear set to spin at idle speed and not letting it slow down for engagement.

The only difference is the mainshaft and gear ratios, it can be done. We do it all the time for Chevy owners who want a T-5 with the old Chevy bolt pattern on the bell housing. Now is it cost effective? That depends on how bad you want a WC in a NWC case, but it can be done.
