No, I am not done with the chop yet.
Right now I am focusing on ch***is and drivetrain so I can at least drive her this summer.
Might not be the most beautiful truck then, but at least on the road!

First, I have to apologize for being to lazy to update this thread in a long time.
I didn't realize that there was quite a few people following this thread.

Second, I figured I'd continue this thread and not start a new one, or continue with the one linked above.

So we left off running brake lines and fuel lines.
The original plan was to get the frame finished and powder coated, so I wouldn't have to touch it anymore and could focus on the cab.
Good thing I changed the plan, because when I was trying to install the master, I noticed some clearance issues. Seemed like the master I used for mock up had the line fittings in different locations than the one I was gonna use.
So here is the fix for that:

Next was to fab a new dash insert to house my New Vintage USA gauges:

Then I started welding up the exhaust byp*** including the Smitty's gl*** packs:

Pretty much one of the last things to do was making a gas filler tube.
I kinda like how this turned out, and it is one of the few parts I consider to get chromed:

Then I just sprayed some rattle can black on the body, because it was already December 2010 and I wanted some protection.

Then I got everything wired. Unfortunately I couldn't get any help on this job so it took forever, but finally after calling Rebel Wire a couple of times I got everything working.
I used their 9+3 circuit wiring harness and I am really happy with it.

So then it was sitting in the garage, ready to be released:

I really would have liked somebody that knows what's going on to be there, when I first drove it down my driveway but that didn't happen.
So I just waited for all my neighbors to be gone for work when I finally took the chance.
My driveway is pretty steep, and there was now way of knowing if the brakes would be strong enough...

And then the big moment I have been waiting for over two years:

Here are some pics of it sitting at the bottom of my driveway:

So that was on December 22nd of last year. Since then I was trying to work all the bugs out and that's what I'm still doing at this point.

I've made a few longer trips since than, like going to one of OJ's Shop gatherings in Berryville VA:

Took the chance on the way home to take some pictures on the side of the road:

Next trip was on the Blue Ridge Parkway:

I changed the original Rochester Q-Jet carb and electric fuel pump I was running to a new Holley and mechanical fuel pump. One of the better changes I did!

Also I've been asked to become a member of the HEAPS of Old Dominion Car Club, which I'm very proud of. These guys are just the coolest guys to hang around with!

So the most recent trip has already been covered by Dave in this road trip thread:
    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=593617

So I'll post just a few more pics here:

Next up is to address the wobble I get up front at higher speed.
Changing the caster angle didn't help, so I'll look into steering and most likely change my cowl steering setup to a traditional F100 steering setup.

Thanks for listening, and I promise it won't be as long for the next update!

It will be nice to get a 1935 license plate to match your 1935 Ford Truck Cab.

Measure your wheelbase on each side, make each side the same to eliminate the wobble

    Thanks, guys!

Dan: The plan is to be there, but I'm not sure on the details yet.

Mike: Love your truck! Hope to meet you in person one day!

  12. Thanks Martin! That means a lot!

And likewise on the meeting. You and the Heaps need to make a trek to the HAMB Drags one day!

Yes, it was my brothers go pro with a big suction pad on the wind shield.
I still need to figure out how to mount it to the grill looking back...

No, I won't. Took me to long to get back on my feet, and now I'm worried about not to get it done before then. Would be bad if the truck would still be in pieces and I couldn't go either. So it'll be a winter project.

Hope Sam will change his mind. We'll see...
