I purchased this Fenton manifold today over a Offenhauser super manifold. Was this a wise choice, i liked the looks of the Fenton but to be honest never heard much of them and I paid more for it then the Offenhauser. Is the Fenton a rare find, is it a good performer? Any knowledge would be appreciated. Overall I feel I did pretty good, I bought the Fenton manifold, 2 Holley 94 carbs, 2 Edmunds air cleaners, polished generator offset bracket, original Edelbrock Heads and necks for $515. Thanks for your input.
A Felton must be super rare, but a Fenton as pictured is not so rare, but an Offy is even less rare. I'd have went Offy and saved a few $'s and had basically the same looks/ power in the end. But who know what a Felton may be worth??
Nice flathead stuff. I'd be willing to bet that at some point you've owned a Camero. Dyslexia is a *****! P.S. trailer-Ed and I are tossin' out clues, but you don't seem to be catching 'em. You might wanna take a minute and stare at your avatar pic (or your manifold).
It's Fenton...not Felton. Sorry guys, I couldn't take it. Looks like you got a smokin' deal regardless.
If the heads check out OK, you did really well, If they're "Wall Art", not so much. Really can't tell from the pictures. BTW, I have a Fenton 4 BBL manifold for a '49-'53. I've never seen one before although I've seen a few dual and triple manifolds in my travels; are they rare, or am I just sheltered?
Fenton 4bbl manifolds have always been goodies. I think Offy or Edelbrock make a 4bbl manifold for a modern Edelbrock carb.
Johnny,Fenton is a good manifold, they flow good. They were very available in the late 50's early 60's. They were not a high dollar item, that's why I had both the intake and set of heads. The main thing with heads is the corrosion and bad threads. If you don't have to weld and resurface, you did great.
Ha i'm actually really dyslexic and it is a *****! once you make an error in the ***le its set in stone no edit ****on, at least I can fix my mistakes in the body of posts...just wish I caught the error in the ***le...oh well
You actually can edit the ***le... Go to your original post and click "edit" and then "go advanced" edit the ***le and save the changes.
well the guy i bought it off of is local to me and said if I change my mind he would be willing either to give me my money back or exchange it for something else, he still has the offy intake, fenton heads as well as others, I ask now because I value everyones opinion and was wondering if I did good or not with my buy...looks like I did ok
As long as there isn't any corrosion around the water jackets they are great. I'm sure you know, the heads are for a 49-53 ... but who cares! John
fenton is an old time hot rod equipment company as well as edmunds.Back in the late 50's early 60's they were both very popular.I have edmunds aluminum heads on my 50 flatty and had fenton headers on until recent rebuild Now have Reds Headers and they are excellent.Good luck with the flathead.
I gained 8hp on the ch***is dyno when I swapped my Fenton for an Offy. Just sayin'....8hp is a lot on one of these engines.
I used the Fenton manifold, just because it is not still in production. Edle Brock and Offy are just too common, almost like SBC's. I used Navarro heads, even though they are still made by H&H. Not many people here in Michigan ever heard of Navarro.
I've got a Fenton manifold on my 40 and it's alot better than the single. I have an original Edelbrock lying around, and the Edelbrock has much larger and smoother runners, so I spent a little time digging the Fenton out with a die grinder. Not sure if it helps but it did in my head. So, I think there were 2 different types of intake manufactures back in "the day". One type would be about the performance, like navarro. The other type would be about marketing, like fenton. TP
