head casting # 462624 1.94/1.50 I looked em up here http://chevymania.com/ & find they are "prone" to cracking. They have been rebuilt & decked & then traded a few times hmmm. im thinking they where repaired & could be the reason for decking anyone familiar with the cracking issue , do they crack in one place hence the decking after the repair? or should i just stay away, thanks & have a great day.

Large chamber (76cc), small valves (1.72/1.50; someone has probably installed the larger valves), and they tend to crack in the exhaust seat area. NOT a perf head. Butch/56sedandelivery.

What are you thinking of doing with them? Could be ok for a mild 350, don't expect a lot of performance out of them. You could get them magnafluxed, if you're worried about cracks, but it's not likely the surfacing was done because of cracks, more likely it's because they were warped

ty squirrel for the reply this is what im refering to
    <TABLE cellSpacing=2 cellPadding=1 width=600><TBODY><TR bgColor=#eeeeee><TD>462624</TD><TD>350</TD><TD>76-87</TD><TD>1.94/1.50 2.02/1.60</TD><TD>76cc Crack prone</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
would go on an 87 block, 60 over and may install a roller cam, just want a decent running engine thats all.. heads have been checked & rebuilt just concerned if this is an iffy choice to crack in the future the price is good & puts me close to installation.......i really dont know anyone to ask these silly questions to lol all friends & neighbors are old prunes & not at all into hotrods......oooops im one to lol

  6. the later heads have less m*** and are prone to cracking and warping when overheated on a stock motor. if you have the parts already then run them, but like squirrel said, not a performance head. if you have a chance to get an older 350 then i would go for that.
