replacement for 53 studebaker rear end

    any ideas on late model rear end swap for stude? Measures about 51-52in backing plate to backing plate.

    2 rearends that I have "heard" Stude owners have used, are an early 90s Ford Ranger 4WD Pickup Truck rear (drum brakes), and an earlier Mustang 5 bolt drum brake rear. A Ford Bronco earlier model rear might work too.
    I do not know if the width is right, but they are all drum brake rears, and have the same bolt pattern as the Stude front drums, and are relatively narrow. Stude rears are pretty narrow as you probably know.

    Thanks for the info I will head for junkyard or hollander manual with that and a tape measure in hand.

    i remember reading somewhere about a dude with a stude who put a pinto rearend in it....dont recall what year it was....it was in an issue of CKDeluxe,i believe..

    My 55 coupe came with an early camaro rear in it, looks a bit wider than stock but not bad if you don't mind the mismatched bolt pattern.
