Are Ford F-1 front hubs same as F-100 front hubs 1948-1954?

Been looking for a pair of F-100 hubs, found F1 hubs. Are they the same? Thanks!
    I've been told I need some from '48 - '54

I honestly do not know. I ALWAYS use the 53 to 56 F-100 pieces.
The 48 to 52 F1 stuff looks about the same but I have been told that the offset is different. The F1 stuff has a more narrow track width.

    The drums are different

They are different. As far as spacing, the early hubs are similar to 40 hubs. The F100 hubs space the drum to the inside more - the drums are different because of this.

Here are some pictures showing the difference. F-1 and F-100 will interchange as long as you use the right hub with the right drum. The brake ***emblies themselves are the same. When buying these parts it's good to remember these were trucks and things may have been mixed up to keep them on the job. I have found F-100 hubs and drums on F-1 and vice versa. I also found one front with F-1 parts on one side and F-100 on the other. Sometimes the seller may not know what parts he actually has.

Good to know, thanks. Makes you wonder why they changed the design when they're so similar in the first place.

  6. I have a set of 56' F100 hubs & backing plates listed in the "parts for sale" ad right now if your still looking?

I used the shorter F100 hubs with Buick drums on 37-41 round back splindles. You have to fit the bearings ( speedway sells a kit ) to the spindles and trim the backing plates and drums slightly to fit ( I used repro Lincoln backing plates ). The big benefit is that they move the hub inside the drum and allow it to tuck in closer inside the 16" 40 Ford 4" wheels. You need longer studs (I think we used Econoline studs) too.
