For those of you with chopped coupes, did you take the whole chop out of the gl*** or go around the bottom to keep the gl*** taller?

I want to go 4" with mine and am not sure on the gl***. The distance from below the window compared to above it where the curve to roof starts seem pretty even.

What did you guys do? How much less, if any did you take out of the gl***.
And do you have any pics from the rear gl***?

    Thanks Joe

We took it right out of the center of the rear window. For some reason I can't post the photos, so here is a video which includes photos of us chopping it.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T354A0U0Ufw
The video is a little old (made it this past Spring) As of this past Friday the car is on the road. Brought it to it's first show this past Monday (Labor Day)

Although it's chopped right through the center of the window, so far I have no complaints with visibilitly. My car sits quite low which makes visibility more challenging. If you keep your Model A on the stock frame as shown in your photo, then don't sweat your decreased window size. Just my 2 cents.

Good luck. You will have a blast chopping it!

Those pics are perfect, I think maybe if I went 6 inches possibly then only taking four or five out of the gl***. But at four taking four out of the gl*** just makes sense looks wise.

I plan on 35 16" wires and a lowered rear spring and dropped front axle, its already running 40 ford hydraulic brakes.

Then build a ch***is with 32 rails, 312 y block and a five speed. And swap the body onto it when its done.

This car was a runner driver full fendered and hooded car last week!
    Let the fun begin!

Some of this 'restyling' goes too far. If you chop the top, the windows will get 'restrictive'. It's physics.
"Oh, let's do a 'Nineties chop! Open up the window openings, some 'taller wheels', and..."

Yeah. Maybe put on something more 'feminine'.

Chop it as far as you dare squint. Like they used to. To streamline it.
    Faug the fashion.

Mike, I'm not really following you. What are you saying? Feminine?
Are you concerned as to the direction I am going?
Did you think I was going to always run with some Foose 22's or what?
Cause they are just for the shows I go to, just kidding!
I thought I had a pretty good plan.

I took five out of mine right done the center. I really do not have any trouble seeing out of the car. Would probably go a little heavier if I did it agian. Mr Ford's coupe looks killer. You almost can't chop it too much for me. Mail slot windows!

I took 6 right out of the middle. They have a good, even look when you keep it proportional. I have seen a couple where they took out less in the rear and it doesn't look right.

    Thanks for all the input

I chopped mine six and the rear window opening is around four or four and a quarter some where in that neighborhood. I was planning on going five but everyone always says they wish they would have gone another inch so i figured what the heck! [IMG][IMG]
