My local news said random areas of the southwest US. Some grid in Arizona triggered it. Or was it Nevada? Anyway, San Diego film footage looked crazy!

Let's see.... earthquakes, hurricanes, drought, fire. Hmm.... time to stock up the 2012 shelter.:D

Anybody having trouble getting internet explorer MSN?

Good to go in San Bernardino county.
The article says 1.4 million customers lost power but there are more than 20 million people in the southern most part of CA. Over 3 million just in San Diego county.

It's starting to come back in parts of South Orange County. According to the news, there was some sort of system failure with a major power line coming from Arizona. When that occured, the nuclear generator at San Onofre shut down as a safety precaution and things just sort of snowballed (I know, bad ****ogy when it's 100F).
    Just another day in Paradise...

A friend of mine here(MI) spent the past couple years in the San Diego area. He said short duration power interruptions are pretty common there.

  19. So...... San Diego power shut everything down just as Barry was about to start ANOTHER speech about how wonderful he is?
THATS FRIGGIN' BRILLIANT!! Go San Diego power! :D
Hell, I'd pay a premium on my power bill for that kind of service!

Power back on in my area of East San Diego county early this am. Ran my generator last night to keep the fridge running. They expect it to take all day to get most of the grid back on. Heard a dead short (AZ) caused a surge/fluctuation which caused San Onofre nuclear plant to go into safe/shutdown mode and it all went south from there.

So... some guy wrenches the wrong part and major parts of the southwest US go out!? That is NOT a comforting thought.
