Is it me or is there an over abundance of tire kickers lately? Sign of the times?? People wanting everything for nothing. On the flip-side; I've emailed & PM'ed sellers to buy their items, and they never write me back. Has anyone else experienced this? I mean; why put stuff up if you don't intend on selling it? Sorry for the rant.

Got that going on right now. One guy wants to buy parts from me and I let him know when he can pick them up and I don’t hear back from him. Then after the time has p***ed he asks again when he can pick them up. Been going on for a month or so now.
Then another guy I want to buy stuff from and I ask for a shipping quote and he asks for my email and never gets back to me.
Come on people some common courtesy would be nice.

Spoke to a guy on the phone about buyin my 40. Thought we had a deal worked out. He just needed to set up shipping. So 10 days go by without hearing a whisper. So I start selling off parts (to keep cash flowing). He see's my stuff on FEEBAY for sale and emails me a rash of ****.??? "I thought we had a deal?" Like I'm suppose to be a mind reader?? Told him I'd deduct what I sold from the price....It's been 2 weeks and all I hear are my tires being kicked still.

I've been trying to sell a ****ing transmission for the last two years. I've been getting so many ***holes wanting to buy it and then never follow through. I even had one douche bag even drive up from over 50 miles away but then not even have any cash to leave a deposit. I've priced it very fairly it seems because I've been getting response. I've also had plenty of ****tards try to lowball me even though my ads specifically say not to bother me with lowball offers.
I feel like just taking a ****ing sledge hammer to it and be done once and for all.
    **** PORTLAND CRAIGS****LIST ***HOLES!!!!

Don't even get me started on CL ***holes! I was "GIVING AWAY" yup for "FREE"! A 27 foot camper trailer. I figured someone could take all the aluminum off of it & keep the trailer part. Tandem axles & electric brakes. It was in pretty sad shape that's why I was giving it away. First; people wantin to come get it with their 4 banger ranger or S-10? My Dad pulled this thing with a chevy 1 ton 454 big block & you knew you had something behind you! Then; people thinking they were going to pick it up & go camping that weekend! The best nut job was the "Homeless person" That wanted it to live in??? What; now cardboard boxes come with internet capabilities???

That's because it's really cool. Trust me, it takes a ton of self restraint not to waste your time since I'd be just another looky-loo or is it looky-lou?

selling stuff is a pain in the *** more often than not. I have 2 items running on craigs list right now. I put the price like this. "$100.00 firm. no offers considered." keeps the lowballers away, unfortunatly, no buyers have come forward for these 2 either.. though I did sell a pair of 49 Chevrolet bumper tips with the same line. dude came by, gave me the 100 bucks and no lowball offer.

as for people who call and "waste your time" and get more pictures and everything and never call back. well don't sit around hoping. sell enough and you don't listen to ********, you just count the money when it is put in your hand. took me 2 months to find my recent GMC. bet I called on 100 cars, looked at at least 20. wonder how many of those guys were sitting around crying like a girl who got stood up on prom night?

Oh good, another stupid people thread...lol.

I'll be about the 6th person to quote you too, Fred...awesome...lol.
    Very true...apparently.

A good one that happened to me recently. Not to do with buying and selling, but still an excellent example of inconciderate ***holinessism in the world of old cars and...ewww...people.

I had my '46 Buick 4dr at the local "Peach Festival" car show last Thursday. A woman approached me, asking if I would consider providing transportation for a bride and groom. The Peach Queen was getting married on Saturday. The person who first agreed to do this, had an accident with his car. Well, we gotta help the Peach Queen out here..."Sure, I'll do it." Exchanged phone numbers, told her I'd check with the wife about any schedule conflicts, and I'd call her the next morning. "Fine."...I'd be paid $150 too.

    Called her in the morning...
    "I can do it".
"Oh...I didn't know if you wanted to do it or not."
    "Oh yeah, no problem."
    "Who is this btw?...
"I'm the guy with the Buick."
"Oh...ummm...I've gotta talk to someone else right now...I'll call you back."
    "You've got someone else?"
    "No...I'll call you back."
    "Ok."

    I knew better.

No call back of course. Saturday morning, day of the wedding, I texted her. "Ready to go, just awaiting your call with directions and time." Never did hear back. LOL...unbelievable.

My worst...best?...tire-kicker came all the way from Kentucky:eek: I sent him 200 pics, we had long phone discussions, and an agreed-to price $1,000 less than I was asking. First words out of his mouth after "Hi", were "So what's your bottom line?" Whoa. I didn't even answer him. He left with an empty trailor. Couldn't belive it. LOL...once again, unbelievable.

If you want to feel better about yourself, just offer up a vehicle for sale on Flakelist.

I've been running my OT '68 Ford, and have met some real winners. Running it with the phrase "PROJECT CAR" in the ***le of the ad. I also, in the body of the ad, include the phrase "the engine might run, but I promise you it needs to be rebuilt- it went through a lot of oil when it was last driven, and I doubt it has healed."

One imbecile actually asked "What kind of gas mileage does it get?" I told him "I put twenty bucks worth of gas in it in 1994, and it still has a quarter tank left." 100% honest.

i think its ironic that everyone knocks CL.at the same time everyone knocking it is also using it.im guilty of being a tire kicker but hey moneys hard to come by and when reality sets in the mortgage comes first.

I'm glad these kind of things happen to a certain extent, I wouldn't have gotten my modified model A rolling ch***is if they didn't. :D

The guy I bought it off of said he'd been trying to sell it for several months and everyone wanted it but they kept coming up with excuses or would say things like "I'll come back tomorrow" etc.

Well as soon as I bought it off of him through ebay he said everyone suddenly came out of the wood work wanting to buy it, he even said that a regular tire kicker that kept coming by to look at it occasionally, offered him an extra $200 over what he sold it to me for. His loss for not buying it earlier.

The joys of buying and selling. Normally find that a first come or non refundable immediate deposit, collect within 7 days or resold approach works. Been quite lucky lately selling but not so much with buying.

I had a similar conversation with a young lady earlier this year. I was out driving my 51 Plymouth when this gal ask me if she could rent my car for a wedding. I said sure, gave her my number and left. Since I expect people never to follow through when she didn't it wasn't a big surprise.

I haven't had much trouble selling stuff on Craigslist, getting the flakes is just part of the fun. My favorite people are the ones that call up and ask if they can drive a car that looks like it had been just dragged out of a field home. I always say sure, if you enjoy using other vehicles, pedestrians, and road ditches as brakes. I've managed to sell off every car this year that I wanted to, although the one I took a pretty big hit just to get it out of my driveway.
