I was hoping to hear from someone who has experience. I was getting close to sealing up this firewall but after a couple cold Miller Lites I was wondering if a couple of downdraft weber carbs would fit if I machined my own adapters.

Anyone ever run a couple of weber downdraft carbs on a warmed over 292? What model weber downdraft am I looking for? Will they fit? Was planning on two Rochester two barrels.

For what it's worth... 37 Chevy pickup.

    Thanks,

    Andy

My gut tells me you would be happier with the rochesters or even holleys.

  3. I agree with saucerhead.

Three side drafts mounted to a six throat dedicated runner intake would be ***s on a balls to the wall inline six. But two downdrafts adapted to a log manifold makes no mechanical or esthetic sense to me.

For a motor like yours, the Rochesters will look right and have almost, if not the same performance potential.

    What style of Weber carb?

    There's quite a few downdrafts.

The 32/36 DGV or DFV or the 38 DGAS series are the most plentiful and reasonably priced these days. They would be the easiest to fit since they have the same bolt pattern as a small base Rochester 2GC

The DCNF 40 would be my choice. Same bolt pattern as above but more airflow potential and more tuneable.

IDF and IDA carbs would be lots of work to adapt (think Inglese manifolds) and would be the way to go if you want to go all the way to 11.

Honestly, as much as I love Webers, I'd run a pair of Rochester 2GC carbs, there's more support for them in North America, plenty of tuning knowledge thanks to all the circle jerks that run them and they are cheap.

You could look at the DGAV line of carbs, they wer fitted to the english 3 liter V6 ford engine, but had intercangble venturi's and jets and had progresive throttle's, do not know if they would work but it is a start.

    The Rochesters look cool.
