I've got a 1990 305 with FI I want to change it to carb!
All you have to do is change the intake, exhaust, and
    Dist. right?

Not on a 5.0. You have a lot of reading to do in here. This has been covered to death. Try searching & look for some of my threads on the topic. His isnt as easy as a 5.7 chevy but isnt too tasking.

  4. I actually wanted to go the other way around and go from carb to FI on a 350. I got tired of the shit that's called gas these days evaporating from the carb when the truck sat a while. I had all the parts for the conversion from a TPI Vette but I ended up selling it before I got around to doing it. I still have the parts so when my financial situation gets good enough to get another project, that will the first thing I'm going to do. Hopefully things don't get any worse that I have sell the FI parts.:(

  5. You'll probably need to run a lower pressure fuel pump as well. There's been a couple posts on here recently relating to the issue. The in tank fuel injection fuel pump puts out way too much prerssure and you likely won't be able to get away with just installing an adjustable regulator.

Beware of misleading information. Check everything and check it again before you buy it. Fords suck at interchangability. I hate them for that fact only :)

Jeff B2 is pretty smart on the topic. Here's some PM traffic between the two of us:

You are getting a lot of info on your post that is confusing and some is BS,I posted info on this subject 10/18/2008.The problem is Ford changed the height of the harmonic balancers and also the length of the water pumps so if you try swapping pulleys they usually won't line up.I can probably point you in the right direction if you answer two questions.#1 are you going to run a front sump pan? #2 is the lower hose on the radiator drivers side or pass side?

I am running a rear sump oil pan

I can not remember what side the lower hose is on. It's at my welders' right now getting brackets welded on. It is a 65/66 Mustang radiator, for 289.

Help any? I posted more info on the post. THanks for the help, I appreciate it!

OK,since you are running the rear sump pan you can use your original timing cover since you can retain your existing dipstick on the drivers side.To make it EZ go to Summit and order a Professional Products 50 oz balancer part #80007(this is what I have) these are the same length as the early short balancer used in 66-69 Mustang 289's.These balancers are drilled for both 3 and 4 bolt pulleys they are also marked with the early and late SBF timing marks,go to O'Reillys or Autozone and get the matching water pump for a 1966 289 Mustang then go to ebay and put these numbers in search and you'll be home free:320364890660 and 120389851321 .

I'm finally ablt to get my engine running. I looked for the link you gave, but I think it's been sol long, he changed the account. Is this what I'm looking for? Thanks, and let me know if you need further clarity, Sorry to be a pain in the ass. I'm tired of spending money on shit that wont fit. haha jsut in case, 32 Ford roadster, 302 (1993 5.0 H.O. convertting to Vbelt, pass side h2o outlet, only running alternator, crank and water pump pulleys) thanks again.

Slepe67 needs to REread the OP!!!!!

Intake and Dist change, fuel pump in tank is waaaaayyyy too much pressure for a carb setup, I ran a mech pump mounted on the block. Your exhaust will be fine.

You can get a Mallory fuel regulator with fuel return to the gas tank for this conversion. I have one as I have just converted back to a manual pump. My 305 is from an 86 Z28 HO. It had Tpi to start off with. I was lucky in that the 86 block was the change over year to tpi so still had the mount for manual fuel pump. I believe the later blocks don't have the mount machined.

I use to play with third Gen Camaros quite a bit until I saw the light. For carb conversions there is great tech on a site called www.thirdgen.org .
