Might be worth being sure which post you need, as there are the sedan/coupe posts and then there is the pickup posts, both different.

I've got a complete cowl with windshield frame, and one without windshield frame/A pillars.

If you're building a 28-29 A woodie and you don't want it to look like it's been choped a few inches, you need to find a pair of 27 T coupe door posts. They're about 3 inches longer that even the A closed cab pickup posts, and are what ol' Henry apparently used to get the A woodie roof height he wanted. They do fit the A cowl lines fine, I imported a pair from the US back in the early 80's to build an A woodie, but sold it before it was finished.

    Cheers, Glen.

Are you sure the door post are a different height? The '26-'27 coupes and the '28-'29 trucks use the same doors. They both have about a 4" header panel above the windshield.

I had 4 28-9 p/u's doors are from 26-7 coupe or tudor sedan, I drive mine daily as transportation, fyi early 30 p/u is still square and still uses T doors. The 28-9-30 cowel is differentfrom the T but posts same, differences is in w/shield and header. doors getting hard to find oyeah diff in 29_30 is fuel cap. Cliff

i believe the woodie used a 28/29 pickup door posts , i'm not sure of any differences with a T coupe. check out this one:

Looks like my info was bad then... Bummer.

It was back in the mid 80's, before the internet, and the HAMB of course. It didn't help that Australia didn't get closed cab pickups or woodies, so I had the rely on 'expert' advice as to what parts I needed to import to get the 'right' look. There's been a couple of woodies built down here using sedan cowls, and they're definitely too low in the roofline.

    Cheers, Glen.

You might want to start by joing the National Woodie Club. There's bound to be someone close who can help you. The club has plans for the Model A wood body if you are going the traditonal route. If you're going to make a phantom, well, anything goes. Good luck!
By the way, you don't HAVE to use a Model A.....

    Tannergang,
If you are using a stock wind shield your build would be similar to a stock Model A Woodie. Are you going to build a true woodie or a metal framed with wood hung on the metal? I have been working on a phantom woodie, metal framed, wood hung on metal. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would be this hard! Do your home work, renderings or drawings to scale. Build a mock up out of cheap plywood to get a visual with out spending a lot of money. Do you have a table saw, router, and a wood planner? I could go on but I hope you get that it is not a slam bag project. Check out my album to get depressed. First picture is plywood mock up. Second picture first metal frame work. Third picture is final mock up, about the third and final design.
    More pictures in my album.
    Good Luck

I am a director for the NWC. the club does have plans available for a Model A STYLE woodie body that was designed by mike chivetta (fully butchering mikes name)

this is a photo of a stock model a wodie front door post..

this attaches to the cowl and part of the hinge is attached to it..
the door then screws to this hinged part.
the "notch" seen in the door is for clearance for the driver side front fender mounted spare tire..

personally havent ever had a "proper" model a woodie cowl.. so I am uncertain that a cowl posts are taller..

I have however created reproduction model A cowls.. and could (and maybe should) make a proper model a woodie cowl (model 150A I.E. 28-29 only).

the stock tank on the stock cowl on the right, slips right into the reproduction cowl on the left. this cowl later became a sport coupe style cowl and is destined for a later project.

Looks like I can now make up for my 'bad' info previously!

Yes, there's an awesome hiboy deuce roadster pickup called 'The Freakster' built by the Woodie Works guy, who's a HAMB member too!

It's a gl*** cowl with wood doors and pickup bed, and it's totally cool!

Google for pics and info, there's a build thread on the woodie works site.

    Am I forgiven?

    Cheers, Glen.
