I appreciate the posts made thus far,...And the restraint,... I know this is a emotionally charged topic, I know its difficult to not voice certain comments. And I am glad that it hasn't turned the corner of controversy,... Please remember, this in Honor and Tribute to those lives that have been lost.

Again, I ask that we make sure we leave Opinions at the door.

On 9/11/01 we learned that Evil exists in this world,.. But, we also learned that Courage, Resolve & Patriotism still exists in this world as well,..... I chose to Honor the Courage

I was in High School my Sophomore year. First period English cl*** and our teacher left suddenly right before the bell rings and a sub comes in and says the world has changed today as we are leaving to our next period. My second period was Art cl*** and we had a big screen tv in there and as soon as I walk through the door I watch as the plane flies into the second tower. I was shocked and took me awhile to believe what was happening. I found out later that day that my Aunt who is a Flight Attendant was scheduled to be on that flight that went into the second tower but she had a dentist appointment and rescheduled and asked her friend to cover for her.

  6. This day still feels like ystrdy to me. Crazy - God bless everyone today.

As for me I was a freshman at Texas Tech University. I had 8 o'clock cl***es which I was running late that morning. There was literally no one walking around campus, no one in the halls of the buildings, got into cl*** and a room of around 500 people watching the events on the giant projector.

It just had one of those eerie feelings all morning, I could tell something was wrong before I knew about anything.

Like they say - ask me where I was last Tuesday and I couldn't tell you. Ask me where I was Tuesday September 11 2001 and I can give you exact details.

Any addition would be great, as long as it doesn't cause this tribute to go down a slippery slope to being closed. And thanks for you account of that day in your life.

I'd like to give a shout out to my fellow Nflders in Gander and the surrounding towns who stepped up to the plate and made life a little easier for the thousands of stranded airline p***engers who called Gander Airport home for those several tragic days.

THAT is what being human is about, not worrying about nations or borders, but helping each other in times of distress.
Newfoundland and the rest of Canada is very proud of you guy and gals...as we are of any other Canadians who helped during that terrible time.

Thanks for starting this Dennis (Harm's Way). I agree that we sould leave the at***udes and political stands at the door and enter with a solumn resolve to never forget what transpired that day. It truly was our modern day Pearl Harbor and like that date this one will live in infamy.
May God bless the families of the first responders who were lost.........just doing their jobs like they were trained to do.

I woke that morning in Indianapolis a little later than I normally would, 'cause I had hopped a red eye flight late the evening before from... NYC. I had actually been at the World Trade Center the day before, to pick up a young lady that I had met earlier the prior week on the plane ride out from Phoenix. She worked for a Russian investment group that had it's American offices in one of the towers, and had only been in the states for a few months. She showed me around a bit, and then we went out to dinner at a friends restaurant in Gremecy park. Back at her place, a quick good night kiss, plans for next week when I came back again, and I was running late to get to the airport. Never saw her again...

In Indy, I had turned the T.V. volume down and was sitting at the desk on my phone with Comp Cams discussing the specs I needed for the cam that is still in the Plymouth. I finished up, walked down to the breakfast room at the Holiday Inn, and first saw what was going on via the big screen T.V. It felt like the world stopped...

on this day 10 years ago.. i was just finishing the paint job on a 1943 North American T6.. it was eerie, being in a WW2 hangar, Painting a WW2 trainer, and hearing all the reports from pilots and on the news. I modified its nose art that morning, to reflect what was going on.. I like so many others had no idea what was to happen later that day, and since then. I will Never Forget!

as a side note i painted this aircraft, back to its Korean War colors and markings.. It and its pilot were shot down in North Korea, he was held prisoner for 6 months.. barely escaping with his life. The aircraft was recovered decades later. I patched bullet holes left the day he last saw it.. The pilot watched as i finished the plane, and its art work.. with tears in his eyes, on 9,11,2011.. very chilling for me that day

I was a senior in High School. It's still shocking to think about. A defining moment for my generation.

May all those lost rest in peace.

I didn't know what a hero was until that day.

My shop was close to Andrews AFB. We were not on any glide path so it was highly unusual to hear low flying aircraft. I walked out side and heard this plane. I looked up and it was way too low as it flew directly over head. I went back inside to watch the events in NY when the ground shuttered from the impact as it hit the ground and slid into the Pentagon. I continued south across the Potomac and circled back around north. I'll always remember how big that plane looked being so close from underneath.

I was at work when I heard the news , we turned on a small black and white portable tv and saw the second plane fly into the towers. I know Raymond Maule had just taken a plane up to test fly it, then we heard all planes were ordered back on the ground, so they were frantically trying to reach him. Pretty much everything at work stopped and people just wandered around all day looking like they were in shock

  22. Yes never forget what happened on that day or the aftermath of it. I was smoking a joint with one of my buddies after work unloading freight in the morning flipped on the tv and watched the 2nd plane hit. It was very surreal what I was watching and couldnt believe it. I didnt make any of the previous up thats how it happened. But never forget, never. God Bless America.

My thoughts today are with all my American friends and family. We are flying your flag in front of our house today.

I was awakened by a call from my Navy Reserve commander that we were under attack. I turned on the TV just in time to see the tower crumbling like a sand castle; disappearing before my eyes.

I requested to be put on the voluntary mobilization list; the call came 3 weeks later.

"9 /11" should be remembered everyday. People should fly American flags and be proud of thier counrty everyday. People should be courteous to everybody else wether it be in person, on the road, online, whereever, whenever, just like everybody was the day of tragedy... Don't snap out of it! I remember how everybody was acting that day, it was a feeling unitement, and that's how all Americans should act EVERYDAY.

This pic is nothing obscure but fits the thread..

10 years ago,I was only 5 years old and in kindergarten (homeschool) when my mom had left the tv on watching her morning episode of Regis and Kelly when it broke news right after the intro. Course, I didn't know what was going on, I just ***umed (being only 5) that the pilot had spilled his coffee on him or something and crashed, but I learned on later in life. Very sad...

I lived in Downtown Portland Oregon. I had woken up early that morning. Was watching TV and they were discussing that the first tower had been hit by an airplane. Thought it was a terrible accident. Than watched the second plane hit, live. That feeling of realizing our nation was under attack was the worst I had ever felt. Called my Boss, he said we still had to show up to work. It was very eerie to drive through Portland Oregon at 8:30 in the morning and see how deserted it was. The F-15's scrambled out of PDX and flying over the city was surreal. I had never seen so many police cars around the streets of Portland at any time before, or since.

When I got to work, we all watched the events unfold on a small TV we put up on the counter. The usually busy phones were silent. I reluctantly told the other guys I work with that I had brought my pistol to work and how silly I felt for doing so. The other 2 guys standing next to me each pulled out hand guns and put them on the counter. The Secretary then reached in her purse and pulled out a nickel plated .38 and showed it to us. Then this old guy that worked in the shop who had been watching the TV with us reached into his cover-alls and pulled out a hammer and put it on the counter next to our guns. We laughed, but at the same time we all knew that if we were being attacked we were all going out fighting.

God Bless those who lost their lives that day, and for those who died fighting for our freedoms.
