I agree, I have been wanting to try a different set of wheels for months but all I had that was a direct bolt on was these. Just does not go with the flathead very well. Thanks for all the feedback and for now I love the drag look it gives to the roadster. The rear beans are 8 inch wide with 10 inch tires. What tires would look good on the rear with this combo? I have a pair of 10 inch Radir Pie crust slicks I am thinking of mounting?

Wires with the flathead looks more correct, the halibrands are to new looking for it, like someonr said maybe if had OHV engine or Hemi , go with the second choice. I pretty sure the KH could be trued, if need be.. someone here has had to have done before in the past. Nice car

Great quality tire but rides like a skateboard wheel.

Everyone has the wires; the only thing wrong with the Halibrands is.. they're not on my '40.:)

Interesting. What do you mean by that statement? (I apologize for my stupidity in advance if that helps);)

    Are they rough riding?

    Both sets really look nice.

The wires really do fit the Flathead vibe.

I don't think so. There were plenty of flathead powered cars in the early/mid 50's when these wheels came out.

  13. Exactly what I was thinking... Love both but it does look confused without a Hemi or a Blown Olds...

I know this site is all about "period correct, traditional, eras", etc....

BUT I think if something looks good, looks cool, it just does. Go for it!
I think the Halibrands look GREAT. Not sure what rear tires I'd look for.

I dig the look of the wires on the car, but The Halibrands just scream "HOTROD"! I'd keep the slicks on there, too.

i'm usually the last to say this but, that car would look better with paint (if u choose the halibrands).

The Hallibrands are cool....they remind me of the stuff my dad and his buddies ran when I was a kid.

X2! I have to echo this, with hand rubbed black lacquer and Halibrands it would look like an early '60s HRM cover car.

Thanks for all the replies, I am going to mount another set of rear tires and go from there. I am a die hard old hot rodder and I had these mag wheels and tires sitting in the garage for years and told myself all along the beans and the flathead do not go together. Yesterday I decided to see if my shake would go away with them and when I rolled the car out of the garage I was like damn I like that look! Wanted to see what others thought and it sounds like most of us are on the same page. I am a big fan of black cars and would love to see if somebody could photoshop this car with black paint.

    Then it's settled?

:DAny wheel you like but paint the car.

6.00's on the front with the wires will make a big improvement in the driving and ride department.

Car looks good with either wheels to me.

I like it both ways but the beans give it a meaner look and it really needs the shiny paint to go with them.

Love the wires but I know how hard it can be to find actual round ones. Halibrands just look out of place to me, maybe without the slicks it would be better?? As far as all the paint comments you didn't ask for. Everything I own is black, and the car would look great in black, however, anytime I put new shiny paint on one of my cars I don't drive it as much!

They have an extremely stiff sidewall. Even with 10lbs of air, the ride is hard.

The Halibrands give it that early to mid 60's Ohio look. I dig it.
