my friend asked me to see if anyone knows Chad from Blundell Speed & Machine, if hes OK or if hes just crazy swamped with work? he ordered a rather expensive part from him on the 11th of last month, and he was told it would ship out by the 20th of last month. he got an email a while ago saying it will ship out tomorrow and would have a tracking number. its been like a month now and still no parts, wont return emails or phone calls. he just wants to know whats up with it. ive heard from a few others about this guy being bad news. anyone know what the deal is? if hes hurt or something please let me know so that i can tell my friend who he apparently refuses to email or call back after he spend a good chunk of change..... lets hope the paypal claim works if he doesnt ship it.

Tell him to check and see if this transaction falls under the "mail order" laws of the USPS. They will explain the law to him and investigate the problem. Under these laws a vendor has 30 days to fill the order, notify the buyer of a delay and get his approval (in writing I believe), or return the funds to the buyer.

paypal only gives you 45 days to file a claim of non reciept. I'd be filing it today.

Yes, i keep seeing him in magazine articles, I guess they have never tried to do business with him.

  8. I'll go by tomorrow and see if anyone's there. It's only a couple of blocks from my shop

thats a shame too because hes got such a good product that can only be had from him! he could be very well off if he would get his ass in gear.

  11. I went by there twice today. No one there. BUT there was a 4 door Willys in the gated/fenced lot that looked like it has been worked on recently. Many other vehicles and a trailer in the lot, so I'd say he is still there and in business

thanks a ton man! it does seem very strange to me that chad and his brother greg and maybe other employees would all be MIA at the same time. unless they are all tweekers or something.

I would contact the publications that ran articles on him and accuse them of complicity in defrauding customers. It might put more pressure on him and stop the free advertising.

  18. That's a stretch - to prove complicity, the person would have to have first hand knowledge of a crime, have to means to report it and then fail to do so. Additionally to be charged as an accessory or conspirator, they would have to be involved with said crime. An article about a product that an individual or business manufactures for sale has no complicit nature unless the publisher of the magazine had knowledge of fraud concerning the product and was presenting false facts.
In this case, no crime has proven to have been committed. Unless it can be proved that the business or individual took the money with no intent of ever shipping the product or returning the money, there is no crime. If he claims the product is on backorder and relays that information, there is no crime.
He does have the responsibility to reply to the customer and refund the money if he cannot ship the product in a "timely" manner.
Unfortunately being a Bad Businessman is Not a crime

Sorry for going a little off track. I'm going to have one of my guys do a drive by during normal business hours .....

well he received the parts yesterday, everything looked ok at first. but then once he tried to bolt the fan on he quickly realized that it wasnt going to fit without the fan hitting the belt, (i guess blundle wants to use the old generator fan instead of the 8ba fan) and the 5/8 wide belt wasnt quiet big enough so it needed to be turned on the lathe. so now my friend has to go to a machine shop and either have them make a whole new pulley, or machine a spacer, or get another fan. also, theres no resivour and theres no explanation on how to set that up.

  28. I know this is an old post but I just received my new Street Rodder Magazine and there was an article in there about his products. I tried to go to his website to look at his stuff but it is not up and running. Anybody have the lowdown on this cat? I do like his banjo style fittings and would like to use them but after readng this crap I am a little apprehensive.

  29. Never had dealings with this (alleged) clown myself, but based on the previous posts claiming he's a con artist/scammer ... I can't imagine even thinking about dealing with him.

I haven't bought from chad blundell for about a year. I was warned he was slow and his parts were high priced. I found these warnings to be true.
I waited about 6 months and had to call him many times to find him home but eventually I received perfect parts that were worth the wait . his banjo fuel lines for strombergs are beautiful.
I will order from him again he's a pain in the ass but he builds good parts and so far they have allways shown up---------------eventually!!:
