Getting ready to shoot some enamel so I ran down to the parts store to pick up a tack rag for final wipedown. I haven't painted in years and I'm faced with tack rags for basecoat/clearcoat, standard tag rags with moderate tack, standard rags with light tack etc.
Is there a difference? If so what is it. Life used to be simpler.

Precisely, how about a package that just says "old-fashioned tack rag" for us mature types

I know nothing about tack rags. So my basic question is how is a tack rag made, using what type of cloth and chemical / solvent ( for lack of a better words ) ? I ***ume the body and paint guys most have made there own before tack rags became a comercial product was available.

I'd go for the standard tack with light tack. pull it apart and fluff it up. don't use much pressure when you wipe it down or it will leave a wax trail. My opinion.

  6. if you can find the crystal premium tack rag, that is what I would go with. they are one of the more popular tack rags and work great. I have been using them for years and never had a problem with them. good luck. jeff
