Alright, I have read several posts regarding ammeter wiring but none have addressed my situation. I am re-wiring (for 12 volts) my 50 Lincoln. I picked up an EZ Wiring kit which will be my 4th kit ive installed in different vehicles. My Lincoln threw me a curve though, I want to retain the stock guages but the ammeter does not have two posts!! Instead, it has a copper ring which had a wire going though it so I am ***uming that I have to p*** a wire though again, but which wire?? As we all know, the EZ Wiring kits dont give the best instructions. I will be using a GM one wire alternator also.

    Thanks in advance.

The gauge uses Induction to read the current flow. The wire p***es through the loop and the magnetic field generated by the current causes the gauge to move. The only issue is the direction of current flow in a positive ground versus negative ground system means that the wire must be threaded through the loop in the correct direction otherwise the gauge will read backwards.

As for which wire, you should put your main circuit panel feeder through the loop, meaning that you'll have a big gauge long wire making a big circle under your dash.
