Comming along nice!!! I wish I started a build thread when I did my 50 Chevy. They make great customs. I used lead filler to fill in the holes and shave it. In my opinion 49-54 chevys look good shaved.
Thanks Daper Dave!! Well I started my new job today at a Marketing firm, only 4 days without a job!!! I call it timing! So the build will continue sooner then we thought! I just had to share the good news! Missy
Congratulations on the new job. Think of it as a short vacation. Glad progress will continue on the fleetline. I am inspired to work on my 51 fleet, but need some time to do it.
I think Fleetlines look great unchopped, lowered, visor ,skirts. Thats just me. save your selves some time and get her on the road !!!!
wow you guys are tough. Missy, I catch the same crap from my buddies. I don't make the same progress they do, but they don't travel 3-4 days a week! it's all about work-life-hobby balance.
Been working on little things here and there as time allows. Since we knew the rockers were rusted out we decided to see in how bad of shape the bottom of the car was. After grinding we found the damage... rust backed with fiberglass...damn it ! No telling what else we find but hey thats part of it right?? Now we are shopping around for replacment panels!
Picked up a few things at the Giddings swap meet besides a couple of title recovery cards from the nice lady . New Valve cover, a couple of hood ornantments and a old bobber helmet I ended up repainting. Thinking about starting a collection of hood birds and helmets.
Dang that car cancer!! Love the helmet paint man. I have a small helmet collection. If only they could talk.
Last Saturday while Missy was out shopping I decided to put the engine back together. I had taken the intake off and cleaned it up by painting the fuel side aluminium and leaving the exhaust side black to make it look seperated. We were having a clearance issue so this is the second fan we got because the first one had to much pitch in the blade and it would have chopped up the belt and crank pulley. Not really the look we are going for so why not change it! Where I ended my Saturday!
Sunday...The Humble Swap Meet! Met up with Robleticia, Racerdad and JRacer1. This time I brought my lucky charm, Missy, her first swap meet! Lots of vendors and getting there early pays! Found almost everything I was looking for! I think we went down each isle at least 4 times and saw somthing new everytime. Never know whats going on inside the heads of these two!! ADD! 3 Brains trying to decide if Rob should buy the polished intake I came home with some nice loot! We managed to get front and rear bumpers, '53 grill and tailight housing, SOMBREROS, rear apron, alternator bracket, mustang bumper cause it was 5 bucks, copper teapot(for missy) another helmet and more hood enmlems! Overall a great sucess! I would toot my own horn but Jonathan bought it before I could. Missy had a great time and says she is going to more! Hey if she brings more luck, why not! Thanks Doug for lunch and for picking a place with no toothpicks in the chips! Forgot to mention the bumper came with a FREE sticker! Not sure how long it'll stay on there!
man that bumper looks so familar.....might be a buddy of mines that he sold. But those stickers are pretty popular I guess?
ooh man! That is my buddys bumper! It's got the other sticker! "i wasn't born in texas but I got there as fast as I could" saw it in the previous pic. Man these parts float around like crazy ...so weird!
Jason, you definetly scored! But, you forgot to tell them about the wooden anchor Missy was trying to buy!
Oh yeah, thanks for the reminder Rob. I forgot about that anchor! Oh well we dont have the room for it anyway. Missy got tricked into thinking this 200lb rusty anchor was made out of wood, untill she tried to pick it up!!
Hey thanks a bunch, lookin foward to seeing the picks of your fleetline. That probably was your buddy that sold me all those parts, i think he said he was in Port Aurthur??? Anyway that guy was cool as hell and really hooked us up.
ok people, we have lost another one, this dude has lost his ever loving mind! So much for a HAMB friendly vehicle! We gotta talk him out of it....let him have it boys!
HA HA! It isnt so! Guys yall made that way to easy! Its going to be the base for a vice stand im making! We are putting up some progress pics up tonight too!
