  1. Here's it's current status

Here's what I've done so far...

Started with a new frame made by my buddy Dave (house of fab), a cab I bought from another buddy of mine, some swap meet wheels and tires, and a rusty crusty frontend and rearend off Craigslist...

For the frontend I fabbed up some frame mounted wishbone mounts...

Made a pair of spring hangers for the spring behind frontend out of some 1" DOM tubing and 1/4" plate

I know this is kinda jumping the gun but....what are you going to use for pedals?Swing or through the floor? I would really like to have 3 pedals in my truck but the 6 in channel hasn't lent much for room.

I used swing pedals in my '33 Ford truck build with a 5 1/2" channel & it worked out fine.

Dan, by the way, you truck looks really great so far & your welds are amazing!

  13. Nice, Dan. Yup, you do make it look easy.

  14. Great job, Dan! Again!

  15. Lookin' good, Dan - it'll be on the road in no time - :) - well, at least when it compares to my build times!

Your hitting me right at the heart of my being with such clean fabrication work. You've also addressed the strength issue with materiel selection that's more than adequate to the task. We've got to see this one through to completion.

  23. Thanks! It's hard to beat a flathead with a 5 speed :D

    Thanks!

Not jumping the gun at all, little stuff like that can make big problems if you aren't thinking ahead...ask me how I know. I've got an Ansen style swinging pedal setup that uses the '60's Chevy truck style master cylinder.

Nothing a little time and patience can't achieve :)

Yeah I hear ya there, seen plenty of scary looking setups. Not putting the tie rod out front was a big goal of mine, I think that's where alot of these setups run into problems. That, and not being setup correctly and having binding issues.

Thanks! I'm a total TIG newbie. I'm TIGing (is that a word?) as much as I can on this thing for the practice!

Thanks Roy, I'm waiting on some rod ends to show up so I can build the 4 link rear suspension.

Step ladder in the corner of the shop works wonders

Thanks Dave. Just practice, practice, practice.

Whose pedal setup did you use? Got any pics? If you wanna see some amazing welds, check out the "Incredible welds" thread...it'll make you wanna throw your welder in the trash

It'll never be as cool as yours Pete!

I just need to finish one so we can crusin!

Doubt it, I'll get distracted by some other pro.....oooh look at that!

I haven't set the rear up yet, but it's gonna be somewhere around 112" I wanna get it as short as possible but don't wanna wind up with a 24" long bed

Thanks! Fabbing stuff is the fun part!

Thanks! Should be a neat little truck to scoot around in.

  24. Thanks!

I'll just have to haul the firewood one piece at a time. I figure a couple coats of laquer and she'll be good for a season or two. :D

Thanks Frank! I'm a fan of 1/4" plate, there's no kill like overkill

Thanks! Should have some pics of my 4 link in a week or so...if my parts show up.

    I heart my bandsaw! It's a Do-All that's damn near 3 times older than I am :D
