I agree ... I have a 4 bar with coil springs under BOTH my 32's. I have owned both coilover 32's and buggy spring 32's. The 4 link with coils is the best riding of all of them IMHO. ___________________________ Here is a photo of another 32 ( not mine ) ... NO SHINY PARTS ... with the same basic 4 link/ coil spring setup. It has screw jacks to adjust the ride height. Also ... both of these 32's have the 4 link/ coil spring setups.
Quoting 1gearhed "I like innovation to improve the ride, handling, performance and safety of the car, while maintaining an old timey look. Isn't that what hot rodding is all about? Just my thoughts. " This statement almost sounds like a call from the street rod gang, new car ride with all the modern teck, and an old body If you add too much ****e, you cover up the traditional flavor...jmo <!-- / message -->
Exactly, steel wheels on a street rod don't make it traditional. No one here is against innovation Navarro was an innovator as well as Vic Edelbrock Sr, Westergard and any number of knowns and unknowns before and after them. They invented what we call traditional hot rodding, and or customizing. Here is the rub, end of the day no matter what everyone likes or dislikes we are a traditional rod site. It isn't so much about innovation as it was back then it is about finding the road that takes us back to our roots. It is not at all about cutting a check to buy the latest and greatest innovation that money can buy it is all about doing it the way they did in the era that we are after. Maybe finding our way back to our roots causes us to take a little more time tunning a spring pack like fab32 suggested or looking for a usable stromburg to go atop that perfect old intake. When all is said and done it is all about finding the path that leads us back to the very beginnings of what has been lost to what we call progress.
While on the subject, I'm building my first "A" frame for a '28 pickup. 401 Buick, ST400, and 9inch. Really like the Super Slide buggy thats been under the stock frame, so gonna use it. Question is, what type of control arms would you use. I like the idea of long ladder bars. Ideas? Pics?
I would probably go with ladder bars with the torque you are throwing at it. Do a quick search and you will find rear suspension pics galore. You may try starting a new thread asking for rear suspension pics lots of fellas would be proud to show them off. but it is best done on a new thread.
To me leafs are always better,Put coil overs on a gl*** 33 ,and had buggy on a gl*** 32 and the buggy rode much better
Tuning a buggy spring has been mentioned a few times here. Anyone have a link or detailed instructions on how to do it? I'm clueless.
Heck,.....I don't mind saying I just appreciate everyone's input. I learned a little. As for me an my '27 project, I'm gonna go with the leaf spring,.......coil overs are on every street-rod in town.
