  2. Jason wagons are nice but I'd look into a 61-64 Pontiac.. 59s are very hard to get parts for, have the X frame and the dreaded two piece driveshaft...

A friend of mine who is on here, has a nice 63 Pontiac wagon that he just put a 4 speed into..

Those are nice rides! I'd say if you go satin or shiney it's going to look great! Such a unique and cool body style. Good luck!

I would start off by making it safe to drive even if it's in great shape you need to make sure everything works and that things like brakes, tires and lights are in very good shape. Once that's done then move into making it dependable and reliable belts hoses etc then just start cleaning it up take care of the shinny stuff and that car has alot of that. Make sure you collect all of the pieces for it and spares of certain things like tail lights and other breakable objects. There is nothing like driving these old cars. Once you start driving it your own imagination will know what to do to the car. I haven't seen a 1959 Pontiac Wagon in probably 15 years so I think they are getting pretty rare so I wouldn't be cutting one up unless body is in real bad shape. Show us a picture of it. One picture is worth 10,000 words.

I can't agree more. Take your time, and enjoy it as a '59 Pontiac. They are gorgeous. Now's the time to do all the maintenence to it, and repair of the systems Thorkle Rod mentioned. This will give you experience and satisfaction.
Trust me - enjoy it as a '59 Pontiac first. It doesn't HAVE to be kustomized. If you want to do anything to it - lower it some. Other than that, what a beautiful time machine of the Rocket Age.

as much as i love 55-64 Pontiacs.the 59 is far the BEST looking, you kinda remind me of myself when i was 14- i had a 62 i cought hell from alot of guys for working on that thing, but i just didn't care,,& it being a wagon...that makes it sooo much better.

  9. Oh, I didn't know you had one lined up...

The Pontiac Oakland club is an excellent source for parts.. So is Joe Wheat, he is a friend of mine and a good guy to deal with.. He also has a few Pontiac wagons..

Yep, they are a beautiful car without any mods. Like everyone has said, take your time. Make it safe, drive it, and go from there. Pick up wagon specific parts when you can and try not to modify anything you can't change back without doing some serious thinking on it. What you like today might be different in a year. That's fine as long as you haven't done something irreversible.

Post pictures of it if you can. I love the old Pontiac longroofs! Got a couple myself.

  12. I can tell you something not to do with it. When you are 16 don't pic your girlfriend up or try to for the prom in it. From an older wiser rodder parents of girls don't appreciate young germs in wagons or hippy vans. Or old beat up motor cycles either for that matter.:D

59's are one of the best looking Pontiacs made! I'm a big fan of wagons too, you're going to have a lot of fun and a really cool ride!
